New Line Cinema Teases ‘Friday the 13th’ Sequel

Published

Friday

Recently, we shared news that Sean Cunningham’s Cameo profile mentioned a new Friday the 13th in the works. Now, it looks like New Line Cinema is dropping hints for a possible entry in the franchise. New Line’s Instagram account dropped a very cryptic message that revealed a message that read “Jason Voorhees wants to send you a message.” The Instagram post was captioned with “Uh oh. What do you think Jason Voorhees wants?!.”

Why is New Line posting about Jason Voorhees? There aren’t many reasons outside of a big tease that the big slasher is making a comeback. There have been quite a bit of rumblings lately that have pointed toward a possible Friday the 13th sequel in the works. So, it is entirely possible that we are coming up on a very big announcement.

Of course Friday the 13th’s fate has long been tied up in a legal battle between Victor Miller and Cunningham. Could it be that the situation has finally reached a long-awaited agreement?

Friday the 13th Part II’s synopsis went like this:

The second entry in the long-running horror series focuses on a group of teenage would-be counselors converging on Camp Crystal Lake for training under the tutelage of head counselor Paul (John Furey). Inevitably, Paul relates the story of Jason Voorhees (Warrington Gillette), a boy who ostensibly drowned at the camp and whose mother murdered a group of counselors in revenge. No one takes the tale seriously until a very much alive Jason begins gruesomely eliminating people.

We will be sure to keep you up to date on this as we get more details. What do you think the cryptic Instagram post could mean? Think another Friday the 13th is on the way?

‘Red Triangle’ Invites Audiences to a Bloody Buffet for Hungry Sharks from ’47 Meters Down’ Director

Published

Triangle

Johannes Roberts has already given audiences two big helpings of sharksploitation with 47 Meters Down and its follow-up Uncaged. He also took some time to work on a pretty good Resident Evil adaptation. Now, Roberts is heading back to the world of killer sharks. He is focusing in on an area in which shark attacks aren’t unheard of. In Red Triangle audiences will witness a cruise ship that crashes leaving its guests to survive in open water where sharks are having a veritable human buffet.

According to Deadline the synopsis for Red Triangle goes like this:

“Set in Northern California — famous for its gorgeous beaches, but also known for a particular stretch of ocean that has a bloody reputation — The Red Triangle. Stretching south from Bodega Bay toward San Francisco and jutting out beyond the Farallon Islands and down to Big Sur south of Monterey, the Triangle encompasses around 200 miles of coastline, and is the site of almost half of all recorded great white shark attacks in the United States. When a cruise ship — a massive, floating, fully stocked resort with thousands of passengers — begins to sink in The Red Triangle, the feeding frenzy begins.”

“This shark-filled psychological horror/thriller will once again have moviegoers overwhelmed and on the edge of their seats watching great white sharks methodically terrorize a sinking family cruise ship.” said Media Group’s Founder, Chairman CEO Byron Allen.

Both of Roberts’s shark films have been incredibly high-octane underwater thrills. So, we are looking forward to him doing a shark film on a bigger scale.

Are you looking forward to Roberts giving us a big buffet for sharks out at sea? Let us know in the comments section.

Showtime Confirms Both ‘Dexter: Origins’ and More ‘Dexter: New Blood’

Published

on

Dexter is coming back to Showtime. Despite the character meeting his demise, the network is still betting on two new series to bring fans in to watch. Dexter: Origins will focus on the fly-by-night serial killer in his youth. The series will reveal Dexter’s early days working with Miami Metro. It will also showcase younger versions of characters that we came to love. It is also being reported that characters like The Trinity Killer will make an appearance as well as a whole lot more.

The sky is the limit in terms of the direction that we can go in. However, this will entirely recast Michael C. Hall’s famous character. I’m not sure fans are ready for that kind of change at this point. It feels entirely too soon. But, who knows? We will have to wait and see.

In addition to Dexter: Origins and watching a younger Morgan in Miami Metro, we also have a continuation of Dexter: New Blood. This one will once again bring about Dexter’s son, Harrison following the events of that unexpected finale.

From what I recall, Harrison didn’t have a lot of fans but nonetheless, Showtime is doubling down on the character with a huge gamble. This will see Harrison return to New York City and find that he is plagued with the Dark Passenger just like dear ole’ dad. This will ultimately see the apple fall not very far from the tree.

Are you excited about Dexter: Origins and Dexter: New Blood? I’m really not a fan of Dexter: New Blood continuing the title of Michael C. Hall’s character without Hall being the focus of the series. I digress. Which are you looking forward to? Or… do you think that it is time for Dexter to hang things up and call it quits.
