PERFORMED BY THE WORLD’S FIRST IMMORTAL ROCK STAR
As the first immortal vampire rockstar, Lestat de Lioncourt (portrayed by Sam Reid) makes a bold entrance with his debut single, signaling the launch of an unprecedented career and hinting at more releases to come.
The song’s original music and lyrics were written by series composer Daniel Hart and performed by Reid. It will be featured in The Vampire Lestat, premiering this summer on AMC and AMC+.
In this rock-and-roll-centric season, Lestat embarks on an electric multi-city tour while being haunted by “muses” from his wild and rebellious past. As his band’s popularity and star power rise, so does Lestat’s influence over vampires and humans alike, leaving others to grapple with his growing power amid the Great Conversion, an unnatural surge in the vampire population.
In addition to Reid, the series stars Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Delainey Hayles, and Jennifer Ehle. Executive producers include Mark Johnson, creator/showrunner Rolin Jones, Hannah Moscovitch, along with Christopher Rice and the late Anne Rice.
In a press release from AMC, Hart and the rockstar himself shared thoughts on the release:
Daniel Hart said: “‘Long Face’ is the first song I wrote for The Vampire Lestat. We decided early on to make David Bowie a major influence on Lestat’s musical style and persona, and there’s certainly some Ziggy Stardust in this track. But we chose Bowie not only for his glam era — he was a chameleon. Expect Lestat to change his musical colors throughout the season as he learns how to remain true to himself and express that truth on stage every night.”
Lestat responded: “‘Long Face’ is the first song Daniel Hart ‘produced’ for my album. He decided early on to steal where he could from Bowie because he hasn’t had an original idea in five years now — is that his The Green Knight score fading in the rearview? As for ‘Long Face,’ the bass should have walked down with the guitar at the end instead of pedaling on E. Predictable. Like everything Daniel Hart touches.”
There appears to be some in-house sparring between the vampire rockstar and his team — something that could shape both the full album rollout and his public image moving forward.
After all, no one likes a bully. #TeamDanielHart
