It seems like we have been waiting forever for the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie. But today Deadline reports that we are a little bit closer to it becoming a reality as Matthew Lillard and Josh Hutcherson have been cast.
Horror movie powerhouse Blumhouse is producing the flick which is set to begin filming in New Orleans this coming February.
Most people will remember Lillard as Stu in 1996’s Scream. Lately, he has been doing some television work and voicing our favorite sleuthing layabout Shaggy in the Scooby-Doo animated movies. Lillard played Shaggy in the live-action film based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon back in 2002 and then the sequel in 2004.
Hutcherson starred in The Hunger Games as Petta. But he was also in The Kids are All Right and The Disaster Artist, both critically acclaimed films.
Five Nights at Freddy’s will be directed by Emma Tammi (The Wind, Blood Moon). Jim Henson’s Creature Shop will be providing the practical effects for the film about a popular pizzeria overrun by sentient animatronics.
Five Nights at Freddy’s follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through. — Deadline
