Based on a book that R.L. Stine wrote in 2012, Zombie Town is the next of his books to be turned into a movie adaptation. The movie was officially rated PG-13 for some language and bloody images. It is set to be released sometime later this year. A trailer should be dropping soon.
The book synopsis states “This used to be such a nice, quiet town. But that was before all the zombies. When twelve-year-old Mike and his friend, Karen, go to see a horror movie called Zombie Town, the last thing they expect is for the title characters to come down off the screen and chase them through the theater. And it’s not popcorn these hungry creatures want to chomp on―it’s human brains!” So, we should expect the film to follow the same storyline.
This is not the first time that one of R.L. Stine’s books has been turned into a film. Most recently, Netflix teamed up to produce 3 films based on his Fear Street Novels. A total of 3 films were released and were a hit among horror fans. A few years before this, 2 films were made on his Goosebumps series starring Jack Black as R.L. Stine. Both films were a hit at the box office. The Author has penned many children, teen, and adult horror books. He has won several awards and has book sales that total over $500M.
The movie is being released by Viva Pictures Distribution and is directed by Peter Lepeniotis. The movie stars Chevy Chase (Caddyshack, National Lampoon’s Vacation) and Dan Aykroyd (Ghostbusters, The Blues Brothers). It will also star Madi Monroe (social media celebrity), Brenna Coates (Neon Lights, The Sinners), and Henry Czerny (Mission Impossible, Clear and Present Danger).
