As far as conspiracy theories go, this one is a doozy. Some people believe that Grammy-winning singer Taylor Swift is actually a clone of Zeena LeVey, a satanic cultist whose father, Anton LeVey co-founded the Church of Satan.
Zeena would catapult into the public eye in the 80s when the notion that satanic rituals hit a fever pitch in America. Known then as “Satanic Panic,” the Church of Satan was often accused of being behind some pretty terrible crimes at the time.
The most prominent crime was the McMartin Preschool trial in the mid-80s. That case focused on the allegations that children had been subject to all kinds of abuse tethered to the Church of Satan. Zeena (who has since dropped the LeVey last name), completely sickened by the accusations, spoke to her father:
“In 1985, a US news show called 20/20 accused The Satanic Bible of being responsible for child daycare Satanic ritual abuse, allegations which were new then. … I called my father and asked him what his media strategy would be to deal with this catastrophe. Nothing. He didn’t care. As far as he was concerned it didn’t concern him.
It wasn’t anything he needed to worry about. He certainly wasn’t going out in public to do anything about it. He admitted that many media sources had already contacted him and he was just going to ignore it until it went away.
I tried to convince him that this would only get worse if he didn’t respond and that he really needed to get someone to answer calls quickly or it would be taken as an admission of guilt or suspicion. Finally he admitted he had no one to deal with interviews or media. I offered to help temporarily until he found someone. Zeena has since left and now follows the Sethian Liberation Movement. She has also become a musician. This undoubtedly ties in with her similarity to Taylor Swift.
Swift, 32, is a multi-Grammy-winning recording artist. Her 1989 album, released in 2014 is a megahit, taking the top spot as the best-selling album of that year. Of course, conspiracy theorists argue that there is a connection between Swift and LeVey in that album title because that’s when LeVey left the Church of Satan.
This is all very ridiculous and unfounded. But, we have to admit the resemblance between Swift and the younger LeVey is uncanny.
All tin hats aside, Swift is currently basking in the success of her tenth studio album Midnights. The album has won fans and critics over with its simplistic style and singer/songwriter feel.
Whether or not Zeena will see that same success with her own music remains to be seen.
