Indie films are having a great year in horror, much better than their big backlot mainstream counterparts who can’t seem to gather a decent box office retention. Movies such as In a Violent Nature, Late Night With the Devil and MaXXXine are taking up that slack with something big studios seem to have forgotten how to do: marketing.
Another movie making the most out of publicity is Longlegs, a serial killer psycho-dramatic thriller by director Oz Perkins, son of legendary actor Anthony Perkins.
NEON is distributing the North American release of the film and their team is knocking it out of the park as far as marketing, although they could pull back on some spoilers if we are honest. Speaking of that, they released a new teaser on their X account which might give away some key plot points including a Nic Cage reveal so if you want to go into the movie blind, skip the video post below.
Longlegs will open theatrically on July 12.
