Well, Steam Boat Willie has entered the public domain, and with it so has the very first Mickey Mouse slasher in the form of Mickey’s Mouse Trap. There has been a recent trend of low-budget horror going after huge property titles such as Winnie the Pooh, The Grinch, Peter Pan, and even Bambi. Now, it looks like they are adding the House of the Mouse to the lineup.
The synopsis for Mickey’s Mouse Trap goes like this:
“It’s Alex’s 21st birthday, but she’s stuck at the amusement arcade on a late shift so her friends decide to surprise her, but a masked killer dressed as Mickey Mouse decides to play a game of his own with them which she must survive.”
“We just wanted to have fun with it all. I mean it’s Steamboat Willie‘s Mickey Mouse murdering people. It’s ridiculous.” Director, James Bailey said. “We ran with it and had fun doing it and I think it shows.”
Mickey’s Mouse Trap stars Sophie McIntosh, Callum Sywyk, Allegra Nocita, Ben Harris, Damir Kovic, Mackenzie Mills, Nick Biskupek and Simon Phillips.
There still isn’t a set release date for Mickey’s Mouse Trap but the creators are hoping for a March release date.
