Love it or hate it, the new IT spinoff, Welcome to Derry is nearly upon us. Today, a report from Deadline offers some news about the casting choices for the upcoming series. While it was already announced that Bill Skarsgard (IT) would be reprising his iconic role as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, the rest of the cast had remained a mystery up until this point.
Looking at the new cast list, it looks as though HBO is going all out on Welcome to Derry. Alixandra Fuchs (Hatfields & McCoys), Kimberly Guerrero (The English), Dorian Grey (Transplant, Star Trek: Discovery), Thomas Mitchell (Gangland Undercover, Spiral), BJ Harrison (Family Law, Maid), Peter Outerbridge (Batwoman, Saw VI), Shane Marriott (Fargo, Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent), Chad Rook (Joe Pickett, Billy the Kid), Joshua Odjick (Little Bird, Wildhood) and Morningstar Angeline (Echo, Westworld) will all be involved in the project.
Not only that but Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti will be returning as well. Andy directed the IT films while Barbara worked as the producer. Welcome to Derry will be set in the iconic Stephen King universe. The series hopes to expand on the lore established in the first two films.
The series will begin in the 1960s and lead up to the events of the original film. Welcome to Derry also promises to provide an origin story for the devilish Pennywise the Dancing Clown. As of now, the series has a release date of 2025.
