Rejoice, y’all. The red tape and lawsuit crap that stood in the way of fans receiving more Friday the 13th is now gone. The case between producer and director, Sean S. Cunningham and screenwriter Victor Miller came to an end recently. It gave Miller the rights to the first film and all of its characters and elements. This lead to the news that Miller is overseeing a prequel titled Crystal Lake with Bryan Fuller (Hannibal). Cunningham also got rewarded Friday the 13th goodies and is able to jump back into the F13 action as well. This also includes the rights to his classic haunted house film, House.
According to Bloody Disgusting, Cunningham is now in the works to bring back both Friday the 13th and House in the form of a theatrical reboot. We are really excited to hear that Cunningham is going to head back to Jason Voorhees’ arms, but we are almost more excited to hear that House is making a comeback.
According to Cunningham, the House reboot is “both an update and reimagining of the classic series, centering around the birth of a haunted house. Lots of great scares and howl-at-the-screen laughs, plus we’re bringing back a few of your favorite monsters from the original for some really fun but equally terrifying kills.”
In addition to returning to those reboots, Cunningham, and director Jeremy Weiss will bring a new and original film to audiences called Night Driver.

Night Driver follows “an everyday salesman who regularly drives across the country selling pharmaceuticals. One night on a backroad he encounters a madman who seems to be following him, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake. All he wants to do is make it home alive to his family at any cost; and by the time it’s over, he realizes that he’s either escaped the terror or it’s followed him home.”
We are hoping that both the House and F13 reboots become a reality following Night Driver. So far both films are just big plans with no official production in the works at the moment. But don’t worry about that, y’all. We are definitely going to receive Miller and Fuller’s prequel series Crystal Lake.
