As the Peacock series Crystal Lake gains momentum, the further into shooting it gets, another bit of news came out today: there will be a Jason, and he’s been cast.
Meet Callum Vinson, who will take on the classic role. Since this is a prequel to the 1980 original, it makes sense that Jason is young, and obviously it’s before he drowns.
Linda Cardellini plays his mother, Pamela Voorhees, originally portrayed by Betsy Palmer in the first Friday the 13th.
Crystal Lake will also star Devin Kessler (Godfather of Harlem), Cameron Scoggins (Shades of Blue, Nashville), and Gwendolyn Sundstrom.
It’s been a long journey getting this series off the ground. Originally Bryan Fuller was the showrunner, but last year he left the project, saying, “For reasons beyond our control, A24 has elected to go a different way with the material. We hope the final product will be something Friday the 13th fans all over the world will enjoy.”
Now that it’s back on track, fans are getting hyped to see what they do with it.
Per Deadline: “Crystal Lake is executive produced by A24, Brad Caleb Kane, Marc Toberoff, Victor Miller, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, and Stuart Manashil. Directors will include: Michael Lennox (101-103), who also executive produces, Celine Held, Logan George (104-106), and Quyen Tran (107-108).”
No word yet on when this series is scheduled to premiere.
