‘The Killer’ Trailer – David Fincher Is Back With A Gritty Netflix Thriller

Published

The Killer

David Fincher is behind some of our favorite thrillers like Seven, Fight Club, Zodiac and the gone-to-soon Netflix series Mindhunter. The trailer for The Killer, releasing on Netflix this November 10th, looks like it’s cut from the same gritty cloth. Michael Fassbender stars as the principal assassin and based on the first trailer just released, he looks like he delivers a stand out performance. The short synopsis of The Killer reads, “After a fateful near-miss, an assassin battles his employers and himself on an international manhunt he insists isn’t personal.”

The Killer Official Trailer

The Killer is an adaptation on the graphic novel of the same name created by Alexis Nolent aka Matz along with artist Lucy Jacamon. The story focuses on a cruel and absolutely ruthless killer that is in the midst of an emotional and psychological crisis.

Another exciting piece of information for us horror fans is that Fincher has reunited after more than 20 years with Andrew Kevin Walker to adapt the story. Walker and Fincher worked together on the crime/thriller Seven.

The Killer is scheduled to have its world premiere at the 80th Venice International Film Festival on September 3, 2023, and is scheduled to begin a limited theatrical release on October 27, 2023, before streaming on November 10, 2023, by Netflix.

‘Presumed Innocent’ Trailer: 90s-Style Sexy Thrillers Are Back

Published

on

Presumed Innocent

Jake Gyllenhaal might be Presumed Innocent, but in this official trailer for the eight-part AppleTV+ series the evidence is to the contrary. Fresh off of his Amazon stint as a barroom cooler in Road House, Gyllenhaal is going from blue-collar to white-collar in his latest project produced by David E. Kelley and J.J. Abrams.

Based on the 1987 book by Scott Turow, this is the latest adaptation of that legal thriller—the first being in 2000 starring Harrison Ford. “It tells the story of a horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorneys’ office when one of its own is suspected of the crime.”

The 90s provided movie-going audiences with lots of sexy thrillers. Perhaps the most famous being Basic Instinct. From there Hollywood kept churning them out. They were mostly set in places with procedural tasks, such as a law firm or police precinct. But they always had a sex scene.

By the look of the Presumed Innocent trailer, it seems we are getting a callback to those days. The cast also includes Ruth NeggaBill Camp, and Peter Sarsgaard. The first two episodes will premiere on AppleTV+ on June 12.

Trailer for ‘The Exorcism’ Has Russell Crowe Possessed

Published

on

The latest exorcism movie is about to drop this summer. It’s aptly titled The Exorcism and it stars Academy Award winner turned B-movie savant Russell Crowe. The trailer dropped today and by the looks of it, we are getting a possession movie that takes place on a movie set.

Just like this year’s recent demon-in-media-space film Late Night With the Devil, The Exorcism happens during a production. Although the former takes place on a live network talk show, the latter is on an active sound stage. Hopefully, it won’t be entirely serious and we’ll get some meta chuckles out of it.

The film will open in theaters on June 7, but since Shudder also acquired it, it probably won’t be long after that until it finds a home on the streaming service.

Crowe plays, “Anthony Miller, a troubled actor who begins to unravel while shooting a supernatural horror film. His estranged daughter, Lee (Ryan Simpkins), wonders if he’s slipping back into his past addictions or if there’s something more sinister at play. The film also stars Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg and David Hyde Pierce.”

Crowe did see some success in last year’s The Pope’s Exorcist mostly because his character was so over-the-top and infused with such comical hubris it bordered on parody. We will see if that is the route actor-turned-director Joshua John Miller takes with The Exorcism.
