‘Cult of the Lamb’ Trailer Takes Inspiration from The Omen, The Wicker Man and More

Published

Lamb

Devolover’s latest offering is Cult of the Lamb. This one may look cute and filled with fluffy sheep and friends, but don’t let that fool you. These little lambs are followers of “The One Who Waits” and they will do what is necessary in order to stay prosperous. Do you want lots of food and a flock of the faithful? You may have to sacrifice your Lamb brethren. Be a good leader or you could end up in a Wicker Lamb to be burnt to death.

You can tell that the folks over at Devolver are big fans of Folk horror. There is plenty of influence throughout this one. From The Wicker Man to MidSommar, to The Omen and Eyes of Fire.

Lamb

The synopsis for Cult of the Lamb goes like this:

If you are here, you must have heard the call: The One Who Waits requires you to start a cult in this world of monsters and horror. To do so, you will need to cultivate a following of woodland worshippers, crusade through randomly generated dungeons in each of the four Lands of the Old Faith, and battle through hordes of beastly non-believers who will attempt to end your righteous mission. We wish you luck!

If you know Devolver, then you know the sort of fun that this game is going to be. Cult of Lamb takes tons of folk horror influence and creates something really special from the whole sub-genre.

Cult of the Lamb is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.

Mia and David Allen Arrive Today in ‘Evil Dead: The Game’ Update

Published

Evil

Evil Dead: The Game introduces fan-favorite characters Mia and David Allen from The Evil Dead remake. Both survivors come with their own perks to take advantage of as well as a new single-player level to play in.

Mia and David join the growing cast of characters that already has plenty of Ash as well as some great characters from Army of Darkness as well as the first Evil Dead. Just like in the film, Mia is temporarily able to ward off possession in the game. She is also able to turn the more fear she feels into more damage done to enemies. That is a nice combo for an Evil Dead character. David Allen is a beacon of hope who is able to turn fear into extra heath for himself and his team.

The new skins come as part of Season 1 or if you prefer you can purchase them as standalone content.

The synopsis for Evil Dead: The Game goes like this:

Inspired by the iconic horror, humor and action of the Evil Dead franchise, Evil Dead: The Game brings the series’ biggest names together in a pulse-pounding battle with the forces of darkness. Work as a team of four Survivors to kick Deadite butt and banish the vile Kandarian Demon – or become the Demon yourself, using its powers of possession to stop the good guys dead and swallow their souls! Choose your squad with fan-favorite characters from every era in the series, and battle with a wide variety of weapons to survive the night in multiplayer and bonus single-player missions.

Brutal Dino-Filled ‘Second Extinction’ is Leaving Early Access and Will Now Be a Full Game

Published

Extinction

Second Extinction went into early access two years ago. During that time, the game tested players and vice-versa. Finally, after all this time Second Extiction is set to leave early access and head into being a full-on, grown-up game with a 1.0 build.

The build of the game introduces missions and a much-needed narrative. Along with that, we get some cosmetics like new weapons and some new deadly dinos. So, once again you will be able to team up with some friends be shot down to the surface of the earth from orbit, and take on mutated dinosaurs that have managed to come back from Extinction and have managed to take over the world.

One of the game’s best features is it’s seamless multiplayer. It is really intuitive to jump in and out of games. Plus, voice comms and getting things in order with your team is also really easy to do. I like that Second Extinction had all of that on its mind very early on. I can’t speak for its new 1.0 build and its missions, cause they aren’t out yet… but I can say that while it was in early access it was fun just to mindlessly destroy hordes of dinos with your friends.

The synopsis for Second Extinction goes like this:

Mutated Dinosaurs have destroyed humanity, and the few survivors left have fled to space. Through short but intense guerrilla missions, a specialized rag-tag fireteam of survivors is being sent back to Earth to pick the invasion force apart and reclaim the planet.

Extinction

So, the earth is theirs. Humanity lives in space and only comes to run tests and visit earth. That’s a pretty cool synopsis. I wouldn’t mind seeing a film like that. Like, if Jurassic World is going to keep being silly they may as well go full on and take it to an extreme like that. Dinos ruled the surface of the globe and we were forced out. Cool stuff!

One of the most welcome new features is the actual narrative with missions. Prior to that I was just flying in and killing a bunch of dinos and taking over different areas. The game looks really nice and the controls are smooth as hell. All it needed was some NPC’s and missions to give you something to do planetside.

Second Extinction arrives as a full 1.0 build beginning October 20.

Killer

What an unexpected surprise from Gamescom Show tonight. The return to The Chiodos Brothers’ major classic, Killer Klowns From Outer Space is being made into a game from the team behind Friday the 13th: The Game.

It looks like the team who plays as the Klowns will be tasked with zapping their enemy humans into giant cotton candy and bloody glopola to store on their spaceship tent.

The Killer Klowns From Outer Space The Game description goes like this:

Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game, a new 3v7 asymmetrical online multiplayer game inspired by MGM’s 1988 cult horror classic film. Players can team up as either Klowns or humans, choosing from a variety of character classes, to explore an expansive, ever-changing map with creepy surprises waiting around every corner.

Killer

It’s a total bucket list item to get to work on the next chapter of such an iconic horror IP like Killer Klowns, especially getting the chance to partner with the original creators of the film and pair them with an incredibly talented development team like Teravision. Friday the 13th: The Game Executive Director Randy Greenback said “I can’t wait for everyone to see what rockstars they are and the craziness we’re bringing to the genre.”

The game’s major features go like this:

SEND IN THE KLOWNS: Take on a role of the iconic Killer Klowns – cooperate in a team of three players, utilize outlandish abilities, hunt humans with zany weapons, and plan your own alien invasion to harvest the citizens of Crescent Cove.

PROTECT HUMANITY: Fight back as a team of seven brave citizens of Crescent Cove – pick your class, explore the city for valuable loot and weapons, avoid getting captured by Klowns, and try to survive – or sabotage – the alien invasion.

WELCOME TO THE TOWN: Crescent Cove is a sprawling arena for unique 3v7 fights between Klowns and humans – boasting various locations, randomly generated map layout and a multitude of tactical opportunities for both teams.

EVOLVING THE HORROR: Unique approach to hide-and-seek gameplay, customization and respawn systems, PvPvE, dynamic objectives leading to multiple match results – Killer Klowns evolves the online horror formula in new ways.
