AMC is doubling down on Anne Rice with both The Mayfair Witches and Interview With the Vampire. Today, The Wrap shared images from the upcoming series about Witches. They include awesome pics of Alexandra Daddario and Jack Huston. Both actors are playing major characters in Rice’s universe.
The new series is looking great so far. We are already in love with Daddario in the lead. Plus, Jack Huston as Lasher is already a dream come true. If you haven’t seen Huston in Boardwalk Empire his character alone is worth the price of admission.
The synopsis for The Mayfair Witches goes like this:
“The series will focus on an intuitive young neurosurgeon who discovers that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. As she grapples with her newfound powers, she must contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.”
The Mayfair Witches is set to arrive on AMC in 2023. We will keep you updated on a more specific date and future images and trailers.
The Boulet Brothers Are Back With Dragula: Titans
Shudder just announced that we will be getting The Boulet Brothers Dragula: Titans starting Tuesday, October 25th.
According to Deadline subsequent episodes will be rolling out weekly on both Shudder and AMC+. The series is hosted and created by the popular Boulet Brothers duo and will be ten episodes featuring drag icons from the show’s previous season. They will compete in a grand championship of drag artistry and physical challenges for a $100,000 grand prize, along with the headlining spot on the upcoming world tour and the first ever Dragula Titans crown and title.”
The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula: Titans will take place in a haunted mansion dubbed the “underworld.”
“We wanted the show to feel familiar to fans, but we also wanted the set and format to feel elevated from a regular season in order to match the incredible talent of the artists we’ve brought together,” says the Boulet Brothers. “There are so many shocking twists and turns this year that the competitors affectionately renamed the show Gagula during filming, and we really can’t wait for audiences to see it – this show is truly the most compelling content we’ve created to date.”
“The Boulet Brothers and our previous ‘Dragula’ series have attracted a wonderfully passionate, engaged and diverse fanbase and we’re delighted to bring them even more of the content they crave with this next competition series, especially during our biggest, most celebrated month of the year,” added Craig Engler, GM of Shudder.
Along with returning fan-favorite competitors (to be announced at a later date), there will also be a rotating cast of guest judges from the show’s past and present, including Cassandra Peterson (Elvira), Harvey Guillen (What We Do In The Shadows), Justin Simien (director of Disney’s upcoming Haunted Mansion film), David Dastmalchian (Dune, Suicide Squad), pop metal princess Poppy, drag superstars Alaska and Katya, and horror royalty Joe Bob Briggs (Last Drive In), Bonnie Aarons (The Nun) and Barbara Crampton (Reanimator, Jakob’s Wife), among them.
The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula: Titans is the first project to be rolled out as part of the duo’s multi-project deal with Shudder.
Marvel Studios’ Special Presentation: Werewolf By Night
Marvel’s Werewolf By Night has just released its official trailer and release date of October 7th. It looks like a fun/creepy retro horror special that will be streaming directly to Disney +.
A page for the special on Disney+ also reveals it’s been rated TV-14 and has been filed under comedy as its genre. Furthermore, the synopsis on the page teases the death of one Ulysses Bloodstone.
“On a dark and somber night, a secret cabal of monster hunters emerge from the shadows and gather at the foreboding Bloodstone Temple following the death of their leader,” the synopsis reads. “In a strange and macabre memorial to the leader’s life, the attendees are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic—a hunt that will ultimately bring them face to face with a dangerous monster.”
With confirmation the special is involving the Bloodstone Temple, that stands to reason the reports of Donnelly playing Elsa Bloodstone would be accurate. In addition to the eponymous werewolf and Bloodstone, the trailer also confirmed the involvement of Man-Thing.
‘Scream’ Vibes Prevail In Kevin Willamson Co-Penned Story ‘Sick’ Movie Clip
Kevin Williamson hasn’t been too busy over the last few years. But it appears his ideas have. The new movie Sick which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) was inspired by one of the stories he wrote.
Of course we know the Williamson brand. It was everywhere in 90’s horror. That slick storytelling mostly featured cat-and-mouse situations around final girls and unyielding slashers.
It looks like that sensation is back if we take anything away from the exclusive clip Collider proved today. According to the logline we are two getting young women holed up in a lake house during the pandemic. They think they’re alone, but it’s clear someone is out to get them.
Director John Hyams is behind the camera, and it seems he is sticking to that Craven/Williamson aesthetic where the camera moves seamlessly through the scene to focus on an object, dark colors are glossy and landscapes are uplit.
Sick is scheduled to release in Canada on Sept. 11, but that’s according to IMDb. As for the rest of the world, we’ll have to wait and see when it hits theaters.
