As the countdown to the premiere of Evil Dead Rise draws closer, Cineworld is giving us an Easter treat in the form of an exclusive clip. In the scene below which lasts just over one minute, we see Morgan Davies as Danny do his best Indy impersonation by finding the Necronomicon, or Book of the Dead, inside a crypt.
Of course, the book is the catalyst for raising the Deadites, those nasty little demons who want to eat your soul, so essentially Danny, without knowing it, is raising the dead (how appropriate for Easter).
The early buzz around the film which opens in theaters on April 21 has been great. Originally slated to stream on HBO Max, Warner Bros. probably knew they had a hot property on their hands after successful test screenings and scrapped the streaming idea.
A decade ago, a majority of fans were pleased with a franchise reboot, but were still left a little disappointed at the absence of Bruce Campbell. Of course, he is the star of the original 1981 classic, The Evil Dead, subsequent sequels, and a canonical TV series.
Campbell will have a hand in this sequel as a producer, just like in the reboot so spiritually, he is in the film. Furthermore, there are rumors started by director Lee Cronin, that Campbell will appear hidden in Rise at some point, so keep an eye out.
The Book of the Dead is NOT an easy read 💀
