It’s that time of year again, the holy day of horror is almost here. Now, as any horror fan knows, the hardest part of Halloween is finding the right horror films to watch. The week of Halloween only happens once a year and it is important to spend that time wisely. Have no fear horror fans, we have rounded up the best horror films on Netflix for your viewing pleasure. So settle in, things are about to get spooky.
American Psycho

While this is largely considered a classic, American Psycho fell more in line with a cult classic than a major hit. However, the film has seen a surge in popularity in recent years. Primarily because of its huge potential for meme creation.
Humor aside, American Psycho offers an unfiltered look into how the world rewards toxic masculinity. The true horror of the film lies in the fact that Patrick Bateman is never in any real danger of getting caught. If you somehow missed this iconic film, it is time to give it a watch this Halloween.
Jaws

Now, I am sure that you have probably seen Jaws. If not, stop reading this and go watch it. However, it is still important to discuss the film’s legacy and the impact it has had on the genre. Without Jaws, we wouldn’t have the horror we adore today.
While it may not seem terrifying by today’s standards, Jaws shocked the nation upon release. So much so that Steven Spielberg had to put out a statement telling people to stop harming real sharks as they posed no danger. If you are looking for a classic film to watch this Halloween, Jaws should be at the top of the list.
Evil Dead Rise

Nothing screams Halloween like the Evil Dead franchise. These films have been in the spooky season rotation for almost fifty years. The newest iteration, Evil Dead Rise, cranks the blood and gore up to eleven.
This is the first film to be set outside in the cabin in the woods. While fans were a bit concerned about the change in formula, their fears were quickly dismissed. While arguments still rage about which is the best Evil Dead film, there’s no denying that this film is definitely worth a watch.
Ouija: Origin of Evil

Miike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) has proven to be one of the best minds in the horror genre. However, before he was known for his Netflix specials, he was cranking out films like Ouija: Origin of Evil.
The most surprising thing about Ouija: Origin of Evil is that no one expected it to be any good. The first film completely bombed, leaving expectations low for the follow-up. Luckily, Flanagan worked his magic and turned an otherwise dull premise into a fantastic little flick. If you are looking for something outside of the box this Halloween, watch Ouija: Origin of Evil.
The Babadook

If you want to work out some lingering trauma this Halloween, The Babadook is just the film for you. The film follows a mother and her special needs son trying to make it following the death of her husband. However, when her son finds a strange book, things quickly take a dark turn.
The Babadook is truly a film about guilt and resentment. Notably how these two things will eat us alive if we ignore them. It isn’t the most gruesome horror film but it is one of the more heartbreaking entries on the list.
