Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for its latest thriller, “Under Paris,” which introduces a gripping narrative set against the backdrop of Paris. Directed by Xavier Gens, known for his work on “Mayhem!” and “Frontiers,” the film combines elements of horror and suspense as it portrays a shark attack in the heart of the French capital.
The plot of “Under Paris” unfolds during the summer of 2024, coinciding with the World Triathlon Championships held in Paris for the first time. The storyline follows Sophia, a skilled scientist, who is alerted by Mika, a young environmental activist, about the presence of a large shark in the Seine River. As the danger becomes imminent, they collaborate with Adil, a commander of the Seine river police, in a desperate effort to prevent a catastrophic attack during the international event.
The trailer reveals a tense scenario as the characters navigate the challenges of dealing with the predatory threat within a bustling urban setting. It showcases scenes of the shark’s movement through the river and the subsequent panic among the Parisian public and authorities.

The casting choices include Bérénice Bejo, known for her role in “The Artist,” alongside Nassim Lyes and Léa Léviant, who contribute to the film’s dramatic depth. The setting of the thriller during a significant sports event adds a layer of authenticity and timeliness, especially with the actual 2024 Summer Olympics scheduled to occur in Paris. “Under Paris” is set for a streaming release on Netflix on June 5th as part of the streaming service’s summer lineup.
