Tubi Horror Movies to Watch Before They Leave (August 2020)

Bubba Ho-tep - Tubi Horror Movies

If you’ve already discovered Tubi horror movies, you’re among the lucky few who know that some great things really are free in this life. Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever. As is the case with every other streaming service, films on Tubi have a shelf life.

Take a few minutes away from storming your watch list to catch these soon-to-be-gone Tubi horror movies. It might just be your last chance!

1. The Crazies (2010)

When we created our list of the worst horror movies on Tubi, The Crazies wasn’t even close to landing on the list. It’s one of those rare remakes that is probably better than the original. Here’s the synopsis:

“Anarchy reigns when an unknown toxin turns the peaceful citizens of Ogden Marsh into bloodthirsty lunatics. In an effort to contain the spread of the infection, authorities blockade the town and use deadly force to keep anyone from getting in or out.”

If you think the original is better, don’t get bent out of shape with me. I’m just going by the film’s IMDb rating – and my awesome personal opinion. Either way, this is one of the Tubi horror movies you can’t miss while it’s still available. Here’s the trailer:

2. Frozen (2010)

Most people have never seen this hidden gem, but many folks who did come across it haven’t had terrible things to say about it. It’s got a solid rating on IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, so it’s certainly worth a watch before Tubi drops it. Here’s the synopsis:

“A typical day on the slopes turns into a chilling nightmare for three snowboarders when they get stranded on the chairlift before their last run. As the ski patrol switches off the night lights, they realize with growing panic that they’ve been left behind dangling high off the ground with no way down. With the resort closed until the following weekend and frostbite and hypothermia already setting in, the trio is forced to take desperate measures to escape off the mountain before they freeze to death.”

The audience score on Rotten Tomatoes is far lower than the critic score, so you’ll have to make up your own mind about this soon-to-be-non-existent Tubi horror movie. Here’s the trailer to help:

3. Let Me In (2010)

Just a couple years after Let the Right One In debuted to critical acclaim, an English version of the film dropped to American audiences. It’s ranked a bit lower than its Swedish counterpart, but it still snagged a 7.1 rating on IMDb. Here’s the synopsis and trailer:

“Bullied at school, neglected at home and incredibly lonely, 12-year-old Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee) spends his days plotting revenge on his tormentors and spends his nights spying on other residents of the apartment complex. His sole friend is Abby (Chloë Grace Moretz), a strange girl who comes out only at nighttime. Both outcasts, the two form a strong bond. When Abby’s caretaker disappears amid a series of gruesome murders, Owen begins to suspect that she is hiding a terrible secret.”

4. The Glass House (2001)

I’m going to keep this Tubi horror movie suggestion simple – mostly because some people might say it’s not horror. In fact, Wikipedia calls it a psychological mystery thriller. That fits into the horror definition, though, right?

If I’m being honest, this is more about my crush on Leelee Sobieski. Here’s a short synopsis along with the trailer in case you want to take a chance. FYI, I loved it. Again, though, that could be more about Sobieski than anything else!

“An orphaned teenager is taken in by a Malibu couple but discovers they aren’t the caring friends they seemed to be.”

5. Confinement (2020)

I haven’t actually seen this one, but it appears to be one of those flicks that got made from home due to social distancing orders. There isn’t a whole bunch of information on the film out there, but it’s less than an hour long. You could legitimately watch it while laying down for bed.

Here’s the synopsis. The synopsis only – because I literally can’t find the trailer anywhere. It looks like the film’s Facebook page is even gone. So if you don’t catch this Tubi horror movie now, you literally might never get the chance to again.

“When an online stalker hacks a family’s chat room, terror is the name of the game.”

6. The Voices (2015)

Ryan Reynolds as a serial killer who’s stuck between whether he should listen to his dog or cat while going through his deranged life. That’s basically enough to make anyone watch it, right? It’s also the best synopsis I’m going to give! Here’s the trailer:

7. V/H/S (2012)

People seem to have fallen in love with the V/H/S found-footage series, and when searching the depths of Tubi horror movie options, you’ll find at least three offerings from the series. Unfortunately, they’ll all be leaving the platform soon. Here’s the trailer for the first film, but you better watch all three soon if you want to do so for free:

8. Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh (1995)

Tony Todd helped turn Candyman into a horror icon. In fact, Jordan Peele was tapped to create a remake of the film due to its continued popularity. If you’ve been under a rock for the past quarter-century, here’s the synopsis for the original:

“Skeptical graduate student Helen Lyle befriends Anne-Marie McCoy while researching superstitions in a housing project on Chicago’s Near North Side. From Anne-Marie, Helen learns about the Candyman, a knife-wielding figure of urban legend that some of her neighbors believe to be responsible for a recent murder. After a mysterious man matching the Candyman’s description begins stalking her, Helen comes to fear that the legend may be all too real.”

Here’s the trailer as well. Even if you have watched this one already, you might as well do so again while it’s still a free Tubi horror movie.

9. The Rift (1990)

I hesitate to even add The Rift to this list, but it technically meets the parameters of the article. It’s a horror movie that’s leaving Tubi soon. Unfortunately, it’s also got a rating lower than 5 points on IMDb. I doubt it even falls into the category of “so bad it’s good.”

Either way, here’s your trailer:

10. Bubba Ho-Tep (2003)

Come on! Bruce Campbell as an aging Elvis Presley living in an old folks’ home? How could you possibly not want to catch this Tubi horror movie before it’s gone? I’m not even going to take the time to copy and paste the synopsis. If you honestly don’t want to see this before it’s no longer free, you’re on your own!

In the interest of camaraderie, though, here’s the trailer:

Watch These Tubi Horror Movies Before They’re Gone!

Like many other streaming services, Tubi doesn’t tell us exactly when these films are leaving. They just tell us they’ll be gone soon and then leave us in suspense – wondering if we really need that first bathroom break.

Did you spot a soon-to-be-gone Tubi horror movie that we missed? Let us know in the comments and we just might add it!

Trailer for ‘The Exorcism’ Has Russell Crowe Possessed

Published

on

The latest exorcism movie is about to drop this summer. It’s aptly titled The Exorcism and it stars Academy Award winner turned B-movie savant Russell Crowe. The trailer dropped today and by the looks of it, we are getting a possession movie that takes place on a movie set.

Just like this year’s recent demon-in-media-space film Late Night With the Devil, The Exorcism happens during a production. Although the former takes place on a live network talk show, the latter is on an active sound stage. Hopefully, it won’t be entirely serious and we’ll get some meta chuckles out of it.

The film will open in theaters on June 7, but since Shudder also acquired it, it probably won’t be long after that until it finds a home on the streaming service.

Crowe plays, “Anthony Miller, a troubled actor who begins to unravel while shooting a supernatural horror film. His estranged daughter, Lee (Ryan Simpkins), wonders if he’s slipping back into his past addictions or if there’s something more sinister at play. The film also stars Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg and David Hyde Pierce.”

Crowe did see some success in last year’s The Pope’s Exorcist mostly because his character was so over-the-top and infused with such comical hubris it bordered on parody. We will see if that is the route actor-turned-director Joshua John Miller takes with The Exorcism.

’28 Years Later’ Trilogy Taking Shape With Serious Star Power

Published

on

28 years later

Danny Boyle is revisiting his 28 Days Later universe with three new films. He will direct the first, 28 Years Later, with two more to follow. Deadline is reporting that sources say Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes have been cast for the first entry, a sequel to the original. Details are being kept under wraps so we don’t know how or if the first original sequel 28 Weeks Later fits into the project.

Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes

Boyle will direct the first movie but it’s unclear which role he will take on in the subsequent films. What is known is Candyman (2021) director Nia DaCosta is scheduled to direct the second film in this trilogy and that the third will be filmed immediately afterward. Whether DaCosta will direct both is still unclear.

Alex Garland is writing the scripts. Garland is having a successful time at the box office right now. He wrote and directed the current action/thriller Civil War which was just knocked out of the theatrical top spot by Radio Silence’s Abigail.

There is no word yet on when, or where, 28 Years Later will start production.

28 Days Later

The original film followed Jim (Cillian Murphy) who wakes from a coma to find that London is currently dealing with a zombie outbreak.
