The Walking Dead make-up team has been sneaking in awesome zombie homages throughout its run. Over that time the team has put together zombies that have looked like George Romero Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead classics like Dr. Toungue along with a host of other cool monster-look-a-like radness. The team has even used heads from Game of Thrones and made zombies resemble certain celebs. In the latest episode, The Commonwealth Blues, the makeup team has gone all out to give us a Freddy Krueger zombie!
That’s right, y’all. The Dream Master himself, Freddy Krueger got the walker treatment. The scene involves Daryl, Maggie and crew diving down into a sewer and running headlong into zombies with a head burned with a very familiar design. There is absolutely no doubt that this is a very awesome homage from The Walking Dead makeup team. If you look closely at the sweater that the Krueger Walker is wearing you can see that it used to be striped. Of course, all the sewer dinge has stained it almost black. If you look really closely though, you can see the lines.
The makeup team also cleverly concealed the Freddy Walker in the sewer’s darkness. The scene is extremely dark. The photos I posted below actually have the light bumped up a bit.
We have been dying to see a new Nightmare movie. So, even though this isn’t an actual Nightmare on Elm Street film, it is still very cool to see our boi, Freddy moving around out there somewhere.
