Hey Tightwads!  It’s Tuesday, and that means more free movies from iHorror!  Check these out…

The Evil Dead (1981), courtesy New Line Cinema.

The Evil Dead

First off, an absolute classic – The Evil Dead.  Here is the 1981 movie that started it all.  This is the Sam Raimi-directed, Bruce Campbell-starring classic about a group of kids who go to the proverbial cabin in the woods, find the Book of the Dead, and unleash a plague of possessions that lasts for three whole movies – four if you count last year’s impressively brutal remake.

You’ve surely seen this movie.  You probably own it on DVD, Blu-ray, or maybe even VHS, too.  If it has somehow escaped you, or if you just want to revisit an old friend, The Evil Dead is streaming right here on TubiTV.

Artik (2019), courtesy Epic Pictures.

Artik

Artik is a 2019 movie about a serial killer who is teaching his son how to also be a serial killer.  The son meets a man who discovers their secret, and the more the new friend learns, the more danger he puts himself – and the boy – in.

Artik is one of those brutal grindhouse horror movies that will please fans of comic books just as much as it pleases horror freaks.  Check out Artik here at Crackle.

Tightwad Terror Tuesday – Free Movies for 4-12-22

Psycho (1960), courtesy Paramount Pictures.

Psycho

This is not the 1998 Gus Van Sant remake of Psycho.  This is Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 original.  It’s about a young man with mommy issues who runs a motel.  And his mommy issues come to light when young woman stay at the hotel.  But you already knew all of that.

Let’s be real.  Psycho is essential viewing.  You’ve probably seen it.  A lot.  It made Anthony Perkins a legend, Janet Leigh an icon, and Vera Miles the original Final Girl.  It also made an entire generation of moviegoers afraid to take a shower.  You can’t see Psycho too many times.  So, if you’re due for a re-watch, you can find it here at TubiTV.

Storage 24 (2012), courtesy Magnet Releasing.

Storage 24

Storage 24 is about a group of people who get trapped in a storage facility when the city is put on lockdown after a military plane crashed.  Unfortunately, they are locked down with a bit of the plane’s cargo – a ruthless alien monster.

This 2012 creature feature is a fun ride.  It’s a cool mixture of a monster movie and a contained thriller, with just the right amount of human drama to make it feel real.  Check out Storage 24 here at Vudu.

Slaughter High (1986), courtesy Vestron Pictures.

Slaughter High

Slaughter High is about a group of young people that travels back to their high school for a ten-year reunion.  Unfortunately for them, the reunion is an elaborate ruse for a student whom they bullied to get his revenge, all while dressed as a freaky jester.

Made in 1986, Slaughter High is a pretty typical example of a golden age slasher, which means that it’s awesome.  The lovely Caroline Munro stars as one of the unlucky former students, and the suicide of Simon Scuddamore, the young actor who played the killer, made headlines shortly after the film’s completion.  Have a look at Slaughter High right here at TubiTV.

Trailer for ‘The Exorcism’ Has Russell Crowe Possessed

Published

on

The latest exorcism movie is about to drop this summer. It’s aptly titled The Exorcism and it stars Academy Award winner turned B-movie savant Russell Crowe. The trailer dropped today and by the looks of it, we are getting a possession movie that takes place on a movie set.

Just like this year’s recent demon-in-media-space film Late Night With the Devil, The Exorcism happens during a production. Although the former takes place on a live network talk show, the latter is on an active sound stage. Hopefully, it won’t be entirely serious and we’ll get some meta chuckles out of it.

The film will open in theaters on June 7, but since Shudder also acquired it, it probably won’t be long after that until it finds a home on the streaming service.

Crowe plays, “Anthony Miller, a troubled actor who begins to unravel while shooting a supernatural horror film. His estranged daughter, Lee (Ryan Simpkins), wonders if he’s slipping back into his past addictions or if there’s something more sinister at play. The film also stars Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg and David Hyde Pierce.”

Crowe did see some success in last year’s The Pope’s Exorcist mostly because his character was so over-the-top and infused with such comical hubris it bordered on parody. We will see if that is the route actor-turned-director Joshua John Miller takes with The Exorcism.

’28 Years Later’ Trilogy Taking Shape With Serious Star Power

28 years later

Danny Boyle is revisiting his 28 Days Later universe with three new films. He will direct the first, 28 Years Later, with two more to follow. Deadline is reporting that sources say Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes have been cast for the first entry, a sequel to the original. Details are being kept under wraps so we don’t know how or if the first original sequel 28 Weeks Later fits into the project.

Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes

Boyle will direct the first movie but it’s unclear which role he will take on in the subsequent films. What is known is Candyman (2021) director Nia DaCosta is scheduled to direct the second film in this trilogy and that the third will be filmed immediately afterward. Whether DaCosta will direct both is still unclear.

Alex Garland is writing the scripts. Garland is having a successful time at the box office right now. He wrote and directed the current action/thriller Civil War which was just knocked out of the theatrical top spot by Radio Silence’s Abigail.

There is no word yet on when, or where, 28 Years Later will start production.

28 Days Later

The original film followed Jim (Cillian Murphy) who wakes from a coma to find that London is currently dealing with a zombie outbreak.
