The Thing About Pam, a brand new true crime limited series, has added Josh Duhamel to its cast list. The actor joins the previously announced Renée Zellwegger.
According to Deadline, the series “is based on the murder of Betsy Faria that resulted in her husband Russ’ conviction, although he insisted he didn’t kill her. His conviction was later overturned. This brutal crime set off a chain of events that would expose a diabolical scheme deeply involving Pam Hupp (Zellweger).”
Duhamel has been cast as Joel Schwartz, defense attorney for Russ Faria.
Betsy Faria’s murder was examined in detail by Dateline before the story was picked up and presented by podcasters as The Thing About Pam in 2019.
This particular case was almost too wild to be believed. Hupp, who was recently charged with first-degree murder in the Betsy Faria’s death, has been accused of tracking her friend’s every move before killing her and then taking a sock, soaking it in the victim’s blood, and smearing it around the house to make it appear Russ killed his wife in a domestic abuse case. There were so many twists and turns before it got to that point, however, and it will be interesting to see how they’ll bring the story to the screen.
The Thing About Pam is produced by Blumhouse TV and NBC News Studios as well as Zellweger’s production company, Big Picture Co. It is a ready-made follow-up to NBC’s recent adaptation of the Dr. Death podcast.
