The all-new trailer for The Meg: The Trench is making its rounds! The sequel once again stars Jason Statham on a jetski and he is out for more shark hunting expeditions. The trailer in question premiered at CinemaCon and blew audiences away with its large over the top, bigger-budget scale.

Perhaps most notably, is that this time around the trench that is opened up has all kinds of prehistoric monsters that includes the mighty Meg and several of her kiddos who are equally as big and hungry. The Meg: The Trench is looking fantastic in the way that the Fast and Furious films look brilliant. This is over the top action with a whole lot silly physics being thrown in for fun.

“It’s an opportunity to do action on such an insanely large scale, that it’s just unbelievable.” Director, Ben Wheatley said. “From doing Free Fire, which was, I thought, was all my Christmases came at once in terms of action, this is just unbelievable. And just doing the storyboards for it, just thinking and going, ‘Oh,’ it’s just … I feel a heavy responsibility for it, to make sure that it kind of delivers to all the big shark fans out there.”

We love that the very heady Ben Wheatley is the one doing these films. I mean, what more could we ask for?!

We should be seeing that CinemaCon trailer dropping on to the internet any day now. And, when it does arrive we will make sure to give you an update with giant sharks eating dinosaurs.

The Meg: The Trench arrives in theaters beginning August 4, 2023.
