The ultimate in cool criminals and savage vampires is hands down Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s From Dusk Till Dawn. I mean, this film arrived right after the success of Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs and El Mariachi and Desperado. It was insanely cool when it dropped into theaters for a few reasons – but the main reason was, if you watched this film early enough, you had no idea that it was about vampires at all! For a certain amount of early viewers like myself and some friends, we had no idea that the twist would include fucking vampires jumping out at a bar called “The Titty Twister”. We were just as shocked as Seth and Richie Gecko.

While all that was cool and all, the real radical news today is that From Dusk Till Dawn is heading to 4k UHD! The best of the best picture, and a truly great way to revisit movies for the first time all over again. Best of all this one is headed our way this Halloween. So, we can add some ultra clear and crisp vampire… and Clooney visuals this witchy season.

The synopsis for From Dusk Till Dawn goes like this:

On the run from a bank robbery that left several police officers dead, Seth Gecko (George Clooney) and his paranoid, loose-cannon brother, Richard (Quentin Tarantino), hightail it to the Mexican border. Kidnapping preacher Jacob Fuller (Harvey Keitel) and his kids, the criminals sneak across the border in the family’s RV and hole up in a topless bar. Unfortunately, the bar also happens to be home base for a gang of vampires, and the brothers and their hostages have to fight their way out.

I remember at this point in time George Clooney was only the very buttoned down doctor on ER. After From Dusk Till Dawn, Clooney became the epitome of cool. Much like John Travolta following Pulp Fiction his career was forever changed for the better.

You can grab From Dusk Till Dawn on 4k UHD beginning on Oct. 26.
