A lot of A24’s work in horror has been really awesome stuff; that has carved itself a nice place in the halls of horror. Of course, a lot of it has unfortunately been dubbed “elevated horror” which is dumb. All in all, though, Talk to Me has managed to gross more money than the hit Ari Aster picture, Hereditary over at A24 and we are very happy to see it happen.
Talk to Me managed to gross $44.575 million over Hereditary which had $44.069. That is a pretty close snapshot of the race but it still managed to burn some rubber past the other A24 hit.
The synopsis for Talk to Me goes like this:
When a group of friends discover how to conjure spirits with an embalmed hand, they become hooked on the new thrill and high-stakes party game — until one of them goes too far and unleashes terrifying supernatural forces.
Competition under the same banner of A24 is a little silly but for some reason it’s one of those things folks love to see happen. Anything that can manage to beat anything else that held a position does this quite a lot.
