Maverick Film and Complex Corp are bringing high-speed horror to audiences this spring with the acquisition of SPEED DEMON, a supernatural thriller set to debut in theaters, on demand, and across digital platforms on May 31, 2026.
Penned by Domenico Salvaggio (Die) and helmed by Jon Keeyes (The Cult Killer), the film pairs genre favorite Katie Cassidy with acclaimed actor William H. Macy in a pulse-pounding battle between faith and evil.

Set aboard a train traveling from Montreal to New York City, SPEED DEMON quickly derails into chaos when a powerful demonic force—Asmodeus—takes control. Trapped on a runaway locomotive, Father Novak and Sister Lu must fight to survive as passengers fall victim to possession. At the center of the storm is Sister Lu, a woman grappling with lost faith, who must confront her past and step into an unimaginable role: performing a forbidden exorcism as a nun.
Director Jon Keeyes describes the film as a genre ride with heart: “This is a horror film that doesn’t hold back—it’s packed with action, practical effects, and larger-than-life moments, but it’s also driven by character. Katie and Bill brought incredible depth to their roles, and watching their performances elevate the material was something special.”
Behind the scenes, the film is backed by a robust producing team, including Katie Cassidy, Cecil Chambers (Bunker), and Vanessa Coifman (Unthinkable), with Richard Switzer and a slate of seasoned producers and executive producers contributing to the project. The acquisition deal was negotiated by Switzer with Essential Film Group on behalf of the filmmakers.
