Two years ago the breakout horror hit Smile may not have given audiences what the title demands. Not that it was a bad film the opposite is true. It is a well-made intense thriller with plenty of sanguine showstoppers right up to the very end.

But that’s not the only thing about the movie that made it great. Its marketing campaign was incredible, and the studio may have just started another one ahead of part two’s October release.

Smile was preceded by several publicity stunts wherein hired actors were sent to large crowded events and just…smiled. They were more like evil grins.

For Smile 2 the buzz campaign might already be starting. Collider has pointed out that a social media account (see below) has popped up out of nowhere featuring pop star Skye Riley. Who is she you might ask? No one knows and there is no record of her existence before last weekend.

The publication is right to be suspicious because the singer in the music video post has a striking resemblance to Naomi Scott who is starring in Smile 2. Also, a sneak peek of the film was shown at CinemaCon this year and it confirmed that Scott would be portraying, you guessed it, a famous singer in Smile 2

This could be a legit new artist promoting her new record “Like Blood on White Satin,” which drops on June 18, or it could be Smile’s genius marketing team again showing the competition how to hype a film.
