Considering that over 60% of Americans believe in some form of Christianity the following movies might not be on their Sunday watchlist. But for everyone else, it’s the perfect time for blasphemy, popcorn, and learning about the villain whose ears must be ringing on the same day every week.

So say your prayers if that’s your thing, turn out the lights, take a seat on your favorite pew, and press play on any one of these unholy movies that will entertain you while others are having their come-to-Jesus moments.

The Pope’s Exorcist

A clever demon meets his match when going toe to toe with Father Gabriele Amorth (Russell Crowe) in a battle of wits. This is a silly, but creepy entry into the possession genre and no one could have done it better than Crowe in the lead role. Available on Netflix.

The First Omen

It’s all for YOU! This prequel took a long time to get out of the gat, and that didn’t bode well for fans of the original. Thankfully the wait was worth it and The First Omen became a breakout hit of 2024. With its creepy tones and unflinching gore, it’s the perfect starter for those who haven’t seen the original and maybe want to binge the rest. Stream on Hulu or VOD.

Sydney Sweeny produced this convent chiller. Not afraid to showcase her acting chops or her natural beauty she plays a novice, or newly ordained nun, who gets caught up in the mystery of her new Italian home, a dark and ominous convent where something strange is happening. If you aren’t disturbed by the premise, you will be just before the credits roll. Rent on VOD.

The Nun

Not the best spin-off of the Conjuring Universe but it will do. There are some great visuals here and the demon is one intimidating beast. Although James Wan only serves as a writer for this movie you can definitely see where he influenced director Corin Hardy on his technique. Stream for free on Tubi or rent on VOD.

Deliver Us From Evil

This is supposed to be a “true story.” That would be cool if it was. Basically a New York cop played by Eric Bana is partnered with a priest to investigate strange things happening around the city. Things turn dark for both of them in this Training Day with a supernatural twist. Stream on Paramount+ or rent on VOD.

The VelociPastor

If you’re not fully committed to embracing the serious side of scripture give this entertaining Z movie a watch. It’s a cringe-fest of bad — really bad — practical effects and film school cinematography. But it’s charming in every way possible. It’s gained a cult status over the years and it’s easy to see why. Stream on Peacock.
