After nearly three decades, the Owens sisters are set to enchant audiences once more. Warner Bros. has officially announced that Practical Magic 2 will hit theaters on September 18, 2026, with both Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman reprising their iconic roles as Sally and Gillian Owens.

The original 1998 film, based on Alice Hoffman’s 1995 novel, introduced viewers to the magical world of the Owens family, cursed in love and rich in sisterly bonds. The sequel draws inspiration from Hoffman’s 2022 novel, The Book of Magic, promising a narrative that delves deeper into the family’s mystical legacy.

Producer Denise Di Novi emphasized that the sequel aims to honor the themes of the original—sisterhood, family, love, and the everyday magic in life—resonating especially with women.  Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the screenplay for the first film, returns to pen the sequel, ensuring continuity in storytelling.

While the full cast list remains under wraps, fans are hopeful for the return of beloved characters from the original, including those portrayed by Stockard Channing, Dianne Wiest, and Evan Rachel Wood. The film’s development has been a topic of speculation for years, and this official announcement has rekindled excitement among its dedicated fanbase.

As anticipation builds, audiences can revisit the original Practical Magic, now available for streaming on Max. With its blend of enchantment, familial bonds, and timeless themes, the sequel promises to cast a new spell on both old fans and newcomers alike.
