Well, well, the good news keeps on coming out of the new Resident Evil film camp. On top of all of the amazing and accurate photos that have been posted from the green herb to the weapons and locations, this Resident Evil has the games in mind big time. Now comes the announcement that Welcome to Raccoon City is being rated R for language, gore and strong violence throughout. This is a definite departure from the Paul W.S. Anderson and Milla Jovovich films that were very loosely based on the games.

The synopsis for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City goes like this:

Once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern town. The company’s exodus left the city a wasteland… with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, the townspeople are forever… changed… and a small group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.

The film has an enormous list that includes Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker, Donal Logue as Chief Brian Irons, Lily Gao as Ada Wong, Nathan Dale as Brad Vickers, and Marina Mazepa as Lisa Trevor.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City arrives November 24.
