Are you gearing up for what 2025 has left to offer us in horror cinema? The movie we are most excited for this year is 28 Years Later (and don’t tell anyone—-but Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, too).

But let’s look ahead to the films in pre-production planned for a 2026 release. It may seem like a long time, but consider that Halloween is just a little over six months away. We are already getting news about what houses Universal theme parks are planning for Halloween Horror Nights.

From a highly anticipated film like Scream 7 to a do-over Exorcist sequel, 2026 is locked and loaded to become another big year for horror fans.

We created this list from IMDb. But keep in mind, production problems or unforeseen issues in the industry may affect their projected release year or date.

The Exorcist (untitled Mike Flanagan project)

The future of Blumhouse’s New Exorcist Trilogy was quickly being redeveloped after the reception of David Gordon Green’s “The Exorcist: Believer” wasn’t so pleasant. Once David Gordon Green stepped down from it’s planned 2025 sequel “The Exorcist: Deceiver”, Blumhouse quickly went on a search for a new director, in hopes to continue the unfinished trilogy that they started. Mike Flanagan was eventually brought into negotiations to direct a new Exorcist film, seperate from The Exorcist: Believer. The film is being described as an all-new story set within The Exorcist Universe.
