It is one of the year’s most anticipated movies, and it just got a new trailer drop. Alien: Romulus isn’t scheduled for release in theaters until August 16, but today we get a sneak peek at what is to come.
Directed by Fede Alvarez, Alien: Romulus looks like a throwback to the original 1979 film. With dark corridors and a retro-feeling set design, Alvarez has also seemingly put the action back on the shoulders of our female heroine Rain Carradine.
Technically, it is a sequel as it takes place between the events of Alien and Aliens, this entry finds another group of men and women explorers who find themselves aboard a derelict space station infested by a blood-thirsty lifeform.
Alvarez also uses practical effects to tell his story, using workshops that brought Aliens and Alien: Ressurection to life. The movie was originally meant to head straight to Hulu, but just before filming Disney decided to make it a theatrical release.
