Bodies Series Netflix

Netflix has released a teaser trailer for its upcoming series, Bodies, which presents a unique and gripping premise. The series revolves around a single dead body that is discovered by four different detectives in four distinct eras: 1890, 1941, 2023, and 2053. All these discoveries occur in London’s Whitechapel. As the detectives delve deeper, they realize that their investigations are intertwined in a conspiracy that has been ongoing for over 150 years.

The teaser trailer begins with a captivating line: “You’re not the first detective to discover this body.” It further promises viewers that the series is “going to blow your mind.”

The eight-episode series, set to premiere on October 19, 2023, is an adaptation of a graphic novel of the same name by Si Spencer, which was published in 2015. The show boasts a stellar cast including Shira Haas, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, Kyle Soller, Amaka Okafor, and Stephen Graham. Paul Tomalin, known for Torchwood, is the creator of Bodies for Netflix.

Amazon, in turn, gives a more detailed description for the graphic novel and the stories:

LONDON, 1890. As Jack the Ripper stalks the streets, Inspector Edmond Hillinghead-the city’s most diligent detective-applies his skills to an even harder case. The victim is an unidentified male. The killer may have powerful allies. And Edmond’s darkest secret may be exposed if he gets too close to the truth….

LONDON, 1940. As the Blitz rains bombs down on the city, Inspector Charles Whiteman reigns over its streets. He escaped the Nazis in Poland only to run the very rackets he’s supposed to shut down. But when he discovers a mysterious murder victim, his double life may be destroyed…

LONDON, 2014. As racist rioters wreak havoc in the name of their prejudiced patriotism, Detective Sergeant Shahara Hasan leads the fight against them. As a Muslim cop, she’s English to the core. But the corpse she’s uncovered may reveal something rotten deep below the surface…

LONDON, 2050. As the mind-scrambling pulsewave plagues the last survivors of a terrifying techno-apocalypse, the amnesiac young woman known only as Maplewood can barely understand the body she’s discovered. But this ritual killing is identical to those from decades past-and the link between them all is stronger, and stranger, than anyone could dream…

‘Presumed Innocent’ Trailer: 90s-Style Sexy Thrillers Are Back

Published

Presumed Innocent

Jake Gyllenhaal might be Presumed Innocent, but in this official trailer for the eight-part AppleTV+ series the evidence is to the contrary. Fresh off of his Amazon stint as a barroom cooler in Road House, Gyllenhaal is going from blue-collar to white-collar in his latest project produced by David E. Kelley and J.J. Abrams.

Based on the 1987 book by Scott Turow, this is the latest adaptation of that legal thriller—the first being in 2000 starring Harrison Ford. “It tells the story of a horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorneys’ office when one of its own is suspected of the crime.”

The 90s provided movie-going audiences with lots of sexy thrillers. Perhaps the most famous being Basic Instinct. From there Hollywood kept churning them out. They were mostly set in places with procedural tasks, such as a law firm or police precinct. But they always had a sex scene.

By the look of the Presumed Innocent trailer, it seems we are getting a callback to those days. The cast also includes Ruth NeggaBill Camp, and Peter Sarsgaard. The first two episodes will premiere on AppleTV+ on June 12.

Trailer for ‘The Exorcism’ Has Russell Crowe Possessed

Published

on

The latest exorcism movie is about to drop this summer. It’s aptly titled The Exorcism and it stars Academy Award winner turned B-movie savant Russell Crowe. The trailer dropped today and by the looks of it, we are getting a possession movie that takes place on a movie set.

Just like this year’s recent demon-in-media-space film Late Night With the Devil, The Exorcism happens during a production. Although the former takes place on a live network talk show, the latter is on an active sound stage. Hopefully, it won’t be entirely serious and we’ll get some meta chuckles out of it.

The film will open in theaters on June 7, but since Shudder also acquired it, it probably won’t be long after that until it finds a home on the streaming service.

Crowe plays, “Anthony Miller, a troubled actor who begins to unravel while shooting a supernatural horror film. His estranged daughter, Lee (Ryan Simpkins), wonders if he’s slipping back into his past addictions or if there’s something more sinister at play. The film also stars Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg and David Hyde Pierce.”

Crowe did see some success in last year’s The Pope’s Exorcist mostly because his character was so over-the-top and infused with such comical hubris it bordered on parody. We will see if that is the route actor-turned-director Joshua John Miller takes with The Exorcism.
