Bidding wars for the rights to new movies isn’t a new concept. However, the bidding war for The Deliverance is a bit over the top. Netflix reportedly spent $65 million to acquire the rights to stream this flick. For that much cash, one should assume that this is a groundbreaking new horror movie.

“Ebony Jackson, a struggling single mother fighting her personal demons, moves her family into a new home for a fresh start. The film is set to release in theaters on August 16th before making its way to Netflix on August 30th. The Deliverance will star Omar Epps (House), Demi Singleton (King Richard), Miss Lawrence (Bros), Anthony Jenkins (Never Let Go), Mo’Nique (Precious), Aunjanue Ellis (King Richard), Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things), Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction), Andra Day (Marshall), and Tasha Smith (The Whole Ten Yards).
