Flanagan has explained to Empire Magazine that this series will not steer away from the darker subject matter in Pike’s books. Although the books were aimed at young adults the content of those books was very dark. I mean, the group is made up of terminal patients sharing their very personal stories throughout. So, the darkness of these stories is very much through all of its layers.

The Midnight Club’s synopsis went like this:

The series follows a group of five terminally ill patients at Brightcliffe Hospice, who begin to gather together at midnight to share scary stories. The Midnight Club arrives on Netflix beginning October 7.
