Millie Bobby Brown Embarks on a Fantasy Epic in Netflix’s ‘Damsel’ [Trailer]

Netflix is set to expand its fantasy repertoire with the 2024 release of “Damsel,” starring Millie Bobby Brown, known for her iconic role as Eleven in “Stranger Things.” Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo of “28 Weeks Later” fame, “Damsel” is a fantasy adventure that turns the traditional princess narrative on its head.
In “Damsel,” Brown portrays Princess Elodie, who discovers that her royal wedding is a façade, designed to sacrifice her to a dragon as part of an age-old ritual. This revelation sets her on an unexpected journey of survival and defiance.
Alongside Brown, the film boasts an impressive cast including Robin Wright, Angela Bassett, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Nick Robinson, Ray Winstone, and Brooke Carter. The screenplay is penned by Dan Mazeau, promising a rich narrative woven with intense drama and fantasy elements.
The release of “Damsel” coincides with the concluding phase of “Stranger Things.” Brown has expressed readiness to move on from the series, citing the restrictive filming schedule. “When you’re ready, you’re like, ‘All right, let’s do this. Let’s tackle this last senior year. Let’s get out of here,'” Brown remarked. She added, “‘Stranger Things’ takes up a lot of time to film and it’s preventing me from creating stories that I’m passionate about. So I’m ready to say, ‘Thank you, and goodbye.’”

‘Darkman’ is Getting a 4K Release Early Next Year

Not all superheroes come from Marvel or DC, some come from the mind of a horror movie director (who would eventually go on to direct a Marvel movie). Sam Raimi was ahead of his time with 1990’s Darkman, and it’s finally getting a 4K Collector’s Edition release on February 20.
Perhaps this movie started Liam Neeson’s revenge-thriller movie path, Darkman had a stressful post-production period. A film editor had a nervous breakdown and left after Raimi reprimanded him for not following his storyboards. Then, test audiences hated the initial film calling it “the worst movie they had ever seen.”
After some re-tooling and hiring Danny Elfman to do the score, Darkman did a complete 180, becoming a critical and box-office hit. Marvel decided they wanted a piece of the action and developed comic books based on the character soon after.
The Scream Factory 4K edition is available for pre-order now at a cost of $35.99 for the paper sleeve release. The steelbook edition is $47.99. Both are available for pre-order. Sadly no special features have been specified at this writing.

Arkane Studios and Marvel Reveal Rad Trailer for Blade

One of the biggest and most exciting moments from last night’s Game Awards was the unveiling of Arcane’s latest game, Blade! That’s right, y’all. Marvel is getting together with Arkane Studios in order to tell the tale of the Daywalker.

Arkane has been responsible for some of our favorite games over the last few years. They are responsible for Deathloop and Dishonored just to name a couple. So, the idea of a Blade game is very exciting. Mainly because we have seen what Arkane does with their special powers and perks in game. So, we already can’t wait to see the powers they unleash with Blade.
Not much is known at the moment other than the game will be a third-person experience that takes place in Paris.
The synopsis for Blade goes like this:
In Marvel’s Blade, Eric Brooks is the legendary Daywalker, half-man, half-vampire torn between the warm society of the living and the rushing power of the undead. From Bethesda and Arkane Lyon, the studio that brought you Dishonored and “DEATHLOOP”, Marvel’s Blade is a mature, single-player, third-person game set in the heart of Paris, now in development in collaboration with Marvel Games.
We are already dying to see what Arkane and Bethesda does with Blade. It will undoubtedly be a huge and memorable experience. Marvel has been doing a great job of carefully brining their games to life. If you haven’t played Guardians of the Galaxy, please do. It is a singular experience that goes beyond the game films and gives us an all-new experience in the Guardians tales. We are sure that Arkane will give us another amazing Marvel chapter when Blade is released.
There isn’t any word on when Blade is going to be released. But, we will be sure to keep you updated as soon as we hear more.
