With only days before M3GAN, the first major horror film release of 2023 opens in theaters, the Los Angeles Chargers hosted a halftime show which featured a gaggle of the film’s titular AI children’s companions.
Performers dressed as the killer plaything were seen on Sunday going down escalators and cozying up to host Danny Hoyt. But it was the halftime show in which the crowd got to see what has made M3GAN so viral-worthy.
Taking a cue from the popular hallway dance shown in the trailer, eight dancers re-enacted the ragdoll body swing that has gained much attention online.
Movies are going more and more public with their promotional stunts. Last year we saw another sporting event crashed by “possessed” spectators from the movie Smile.
M3GAN follows Gemma (Allison Williams), a creative technology toy wiz who develops a child-sized functioning cyborg, M3GAN, to assist her orphaned niece Cady (Violet McGraw) in recovering from the grief of losing her parents. It seems this robotic spooky Pookie takes her job way too seriously and starts dispatching people who threaten her charge.
M3GAN opens in theaters on Jan. 6, 2023. It is directed by Gerard Johnstone and produced by Blumhouse with James Wan.
