Here’s a list of the scariest films based on true stories.  I know it’s hard to believe that some of these films were inspired by actual events, but the key word to remember is “inspired”.

Some of these movies may follow closely to reported events, where others take great creative allowances. Nonetheless, hearing that a movie was based/inspired by true events raises the scare level a couple notches.
