HBO is getting an It prequel that is going to scare the pants off of its audience. Welcome to Derry is going to go back to the 60s in order to show us all the horrifying things that we have missed so far. Sarah Aubrey, head of HBO Max’s original programming is going to get fans really awesome and terrifying going for Stephen King fans.

“We have been working with Jason Fuchs, Brad Caleb Kane, Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti very closely,” Aubrey said. “They’re so deep into this mythology and they have such a firm handle on the storytelling around these characters and also the demented scares that they’re putting into things. Sometimes I’m, like, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ Just all the wild ways they think up to terrify us. You’ll be hearing more concretely about that development very soon.”

Andy Muschietti is still very much onboard with the new series as well. The It director is said to have brought back an opportunity that is going to be filled with those “demented scares.
