Not Since The Day After Tomorrow has New York looked so icy, but the latest Ghostbusters movie gives that end-of-the-world opus a run for its money. The official teaser trailer dropped today and let’s say, unlike the 1989 sequel, negative slime isn’t getting the better of our heroes, it’s ice.
Perhaps Elsa would have said let it go. Still, our team of spiritual eradicators are taking the customized hearse out of storage, coming face to face with an entity so mysterious, Grooberson (Paul Rudd) lets out an excited, “Ooo-ho-ho-hoh!” when it appears in front of him.
Legacy meets liability in this new offering. It looks like Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson are back in their prospective roles as more than just legacy cameos, as is the cast from the 2021 reboot. Patton Oswalt and Kumail Nanjiani also join the cast.
Jason Reitman (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), the son of Ivan who directed the first and second films, is not returning, although he does have a writing credit. Stepping in is director Gil Kenan who has a lot to live up to. He has helmed Monster House, Poltergeist (2015), and A Boy Called Christmas in the past.
Tell us your thoughts about this trailer and if you think this will be better than the last one.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire comes out on March 29, 2024. Happy Easter weekend!
