The creator of the original Final Destination film, Jeffery Reddick, has taken to social media to confirm that the fifth sequel Final Destination: Bloodlines will hit theaters on May 16, 2025. This news was originally published in Variety. It has been 14 years since the last sequel.
The original came out in 2000 and was an immediate hit. Directed by James Wong and co-written by Reddick, the movie follows a group of teens who escape death by 747, or so they think. Death isn’t one to be deceived and it begins taking its victims one by one in a series of freak accidents.
Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein are directing “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” which is co-written by Guy Busick, Lori Evans Taylor, and Jeffrey Reddick.
Plot details have been kept under wraps, But Riddick teased a bit of the plot in an interview with Collider last year.
“This film dives into the film in such a unique way that it attacks it from a different angle so you don’t feel like, ‘Oh, there’s an amazing setup and then there’s gonna be one wrinkle that can potentially save you all that you have to kind of make a moral choice about or do to solve it.’ There’s an expansion of the universe that – I’m being so careful,” Reddick said, adding, “There’s an expansion of the world of Final Destination that I think fans are gonna be really interested in and intrigued by. When I say it doesn’t add a layer, it’s not just, ‘Hey, if you murder somebody in your place, you’ll live.’ It kind of unearths a whole deep layer to the story that kind of, yes, makes it really, really interesting.”
