The following story features an act of brutal murder involving a human and an animal.
A 31-year-old man from an upscale part of Princeton New Jersey was arrested last weekend after he called police to tell them he murdered his brother. When the police arrived they found a gruesome crime scene.
The Post reports that Matthew Hertgen allegedly stabbed and blugeoned his brother Joseph Hertgen to death, and burned their pet cat. More disturbing is that authorities found a bloody plate and knife and surmised Matthew had consumed Joseph’s eyeball.
“It was gruesome,” one police source told The Post. “It was way overboard.”
The police investigation also revealed Matthew posted very cryptic and disturbing messages on his social media page late last year. It was almost like a foretelling of things to come:
“What have you created?/ Why have you created it?/ Who are you trying to strangle? And what god are you serving?/ I can see the knives sharpening/ I can hear the arrows whizzing/ I can feel my heart beating/ But can he?
Someone sits alone in that room/ That room where the walls shake. He still has a pulse/ Blood still flows through his veins/ But something is wrapped around him/ Squeezing him/ Choking him/ Suffocating him.
Tightly wound around his head/ Fastened deep in his throat/ Blood oozes out of his eyes. His ears are sparking/ His face vibrates/ He convulses, and he doesn’t stop/ He’s lost/ He’s asleep/ He’s dead.”
Both brothers were soccer stars. First in high school at Toms River North High and then in college. Records also show that Joseph had a single DUI offense, but other that that niether brother had a criminal record.
“Authorities have charged Hertgen with murder and other offenses, and he faces life in prison if convicted,” reports The Post.
