It’s been over 40 years since the last Cujo adaptation. Directed by Lewis Teague and starring Dee Wallace, the 1983 film was highly praised for its suspense and cinematography. Now Netflix is taking a crack at an adaptation of the Stephen King novel with a remake.

According to Variety, Roy Lee, who has helped produce Companion, Strange Darling and Barbarian will back this reboot.

King’s works have had a cinematic renaissance in the past few years. This year alone will see a few of his works made into movies or television series. Already, released was The Monkey, based on King’s short story from his book Skeleton Crew.

Other film adaptations include Life of Chuck which is being released by Neon, and HBO’s Welcome to Derry, a prequel to It. On Amazon, Mike Flanagan is putting his personal touch on a version of Carrie, perhaps one of King’s best known works.

There is no word on when Cujo will drop on Netflix, but we will keep you updated along the way.
