If you haven’t watched Jordan Peele’s Nope yet, we highly recommend it. It’s now available to rent on Demand. We won’t get into details about the plot, but there is one aspect of the movie that we felt we have seen before — in real life.
Back in 2015 Hector Garcia looked up from the streets of Philidelphia and saw something strange. At first glance, one could say it looks like a plastic grocery bag dancing in the wind. But look closer and it becomes clear, that this is no grocery bag.
Those of you who have seen Nope understand why this video is so interesting. Something very similar happens in the film.
In Garcia’s capture, the cloud contains twinkling lights. If you’re capable of zooming in, you can see tiny little electric charges flickering throughout the nebulous mass.
Whether Peele saw this footage and was inspired by it or not is only speculation, but considering this video is seven years old and has been seen by millions of people, we have to wonder if the director knows it exists.
For those skeptics out there, yes, this could be a camera trick or a prop, but Garcia’s reaction and the size of the anomaly have us convinced, that whatever this is, it’s the very meaning of a UFO.
Nope has become a summer box office hit. With a total worldwide gross of over $140 million, it sits at number 22 on the box office charts of the year so far. Now that it is available for rental, that number is likely to rise.
