Artist Dez Wilson* has become sort of a recent Instagram sensation with his reimagining of the Netflix superhit Wednesday. He has redefined the Addams Family as African Americans and the result is not only beautiful but has some yearning for it to be a reality.
Wilson describes himself as “an Alabama bred Southern creative with a passion for film, photography, graphic design and music.”
Morticia and Gomez Addams’ only daughter Wednesday has spun off into her own show on Netflix where it has broken viewership records. The series follows the titular character along with her sidekick Thing as they try to solve who or what is behind the violent murders plaguing her boarding school.
Wilson’s work creates the entire Addams cast as an African American family, from Morticia to Gomez to Lurch and even Thing. But this isn’t the first time the artist has replaced caucasian film icons with people of color.
