‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ Deleted Scene Makes Freddy Krueger Even More Evil

Published

on

Nightmare

I’ve always found it hilarious that Freddy Krueger became so embedded in pop culture. Kids were collecting bubble gum containers made up like Freddy Krueger’s head like it was Garfield. Hilariously, the guy wasn’t a good person. In fact, he was a child molester and murderer. Still, he made his way into all sorts of collectibles for kiddos. Heck, as a kid, I would quote Freddy Krueger all the time. In one of Nightmare on Elm Street’s deleted scenes, it is revealed that Freddy is even more murderous and evil than we are lead to believe in the theatrical release.

You guys recall the scene when Nancy speaks to her mom about the origins of Freddy Krueger, right? It was the informative scene that had Nancy’s mom speaking over a boiler and Freddy’s accoutrements. Well, in the deleted scene we see an extended version of that moment – in which Nancy’s mom informs her that Nancy wasn’t the first of moms children. The first born kiddos were already killed by Freddy.

This extended to all the parents of Elm Street. Freddy had already killed all of their children once before. Not only is that crazy awesome exposition, but it would also make for the perfect next Nightmare on Elm Street film. It would be rather bleak, but it could focus on Freddy murdering that entire younger group of kids. Think Stranger Things but with Freddy. Bleak indeed, but it would make for a hell of a prequel.
