A ‘Marvel Zombies’ Series is Headed to Disney+ to Eat Superhero Brains

The Comics For Marvel Zombies Were Extraordinary

by Trey Hilburn III

One of Marvel’s bloodier outings, Marvel Zombies is headed for an animated series on Disney+. The comics that the series is based on saw the world infected by a zombie plague that didn’t discriminate against superheroes. That meant that the likes of Wolverine and Spider-Man weren’t excluded from the undead’s ranks.

The comics that introduced this particular gruesome outing for Marvel was brought to us by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead creator) with amazing art by Sean Phillips. This particular multiverse chapter in Marvel occurred on Earth-2149. This allowed the occurrences in the comics to get really nasty and have no effect on the mainstream heroes that we are all used to.

The recent Disney+ series What If…? also touched on the zombies outbreak, briefly.

Marvel Zombies was announced during Disney+ Day. It comes at us from Executive producer Bryan Andrews and written by Executive Producer Zeb Wells.

I can’t wait to dig into the meat of these stories. In order to truly be Marvel Zombies however, the series has to get gory. It will be interesting to see how Disney deals with that portion of the material. In any case What If…? and the upcoming Marvel Zombies does prepare the minds of fans for the upcoming multiverse that is coming in the next MCU phase.
