‘Welcome to Derry’ Prequel Series To ‘IT’ Pushed Back Even More Due to Strikes
The much-anticipated ‘IT’ prequel series, ‘Welcome to Derry,’ has hit a snag that will push its premiere from a planned 2024 Halloween release to a 2025 debut. This news comes as a cold shower for the legion of horror fans eager to revisit the haunting world of Pennywise.
The reason behind this postponement is none other than the recent industry-wide strikes by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA). These strikes have cast a long shadow over numerous productions, with ‘Welcome to Derry’ being the latest victim.
HBO and Max’s top brass, chairman/CEO Casey Bloys, delivered the grim news at a press event. The delay extends the gap between the series and the last ‘IT’ film to a harrowing six years, testing the patience of us horror fans.
The series promises to delve into the prequel territory of the ‘IT’ saga, offering a backstory to the malevolent entity that is Pennywise and the town of Derry, which has become synonymous with terror in the King canon. While details are shrouded in mystery, the involvement of Andy Muschietti, the director who helmed the recent film adaptations, offers a glimmer of hope that the series will retain the chilling atmosphere and heart-pounding suspense that fans crave.

Travis Kelce Joins Cast on Ryan Murphy’s ‘Grotesquerie’
Football star Travis Kelce is going Hollywood. At least that is what Dahmer Emmy award-winning star Niecy Nash-Betts announced on her Instagram page yesterday. She posted a video of herself on set of the new Ryan Murphy FX series Grotesquerie.
“This is what happens when WINNERS link up‼️ @killatrav Welcome to Grostequerie[sic]!” she wrote.
Standing just out of frame is Kelce who suddenly steps in to say, “Jumping into new territory with Niecy!” Nash-Betts appears to be in a hospital gown while Kelce is dressed as an orderly.
Not much is known about Grotesquerie, other than in literary terms it means a work filled with both science fiction and extreme horror elements. Think H.P. Lovecraft.
Back in February Murphy released an audio teaser for Grotesquerie on social media. In it, Nash-Betts says in part, “I don’t know when it started, I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s different now. There’s been a shift, like something’s opening up in the world — a kind of hole that descends into a nothingness…”
There hasn’t been an official synopsis released regarding Grotesquerie, but keep checking back to iHorror for further details.
