Popular Scary Series Streaming on Netflix Right Now

Published

on

A woman bent over backwards seemingly possessed.

Here are some of the newest scary series on Netflix. We’ve already done a list of movies on this topic, so why not go into trending series?

Resident Evil (Series–2022: 8 Episodes)

Fans of the franchise haven’t been happy with adaptations of the video game since they started making them. Although the first movie starring Milo Jovovich has its stans, the five sequels that followed weren’t as well received.

Racoon City is a reboot of the film series and got a tepid response. Now Netflix has tried their hand at a spin-off, and overall it’s pretty good. Good enough to be trending on the streamer right now.

Synopsis: Year 2036 – 14 years after the spread of Joy caused so much pain, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and mind-shattering creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the sinister Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.

Stranger Things (Four Seasons)

What can be said about this series that hasn’t already been addressed? Although Netflix is listing this show and all of its seasons as trending, we all know it’s the fourth installment that has people clicking their remotes. With each season getting progressively better, it’s no wonder people keep coming back for more. Netflix servers even went dark for a minute as millions of people logged in all at once for chapter four.

We even noticed a trend; viewers who gave up on the series midway through season two, have been binging every episode either before or after watching this latest installment, and loving it. The directors, the Duffer Brothers, are sticklers for detail and they didn’t miss a beat in their world-building. We would like to suggest to the Netflix execs to just drop the whole damn season next time. Don’t split it up into two parts.

Synopsis for season four: It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.

Glitch (18 Episodes)

This Australian import may have slipped under everyone’s radar. There are three seasons in total so, if you haven’t watched it yet, here’s a weekend binge opportunity. This is being labeled as a “paranormal drama.” What exactly that means is all a part of the mystery. It currently holds a 7.2 rating on IMDb which means people are digging it.

Synopsis: A police officer and a doctor face an emotionally charged mystery when six local residents inexplicably return from the dead in peak physical form.

All of Us Are Dead (12 Episodes)

The one thing about horror is that it tends to grab onto a trend and milk it dry. Zombies, for instance, have saturated the market and frankly, nothing fresh has come out of it for a long time. Even this series is derivative. But, the good news is this one is entertaining, so much so another season is on the way.

K-Horror is certainly coming into its own. And with a series like this one, we can see why. Don’t bury the genre just yet, take a look at this scary series then make up your mind.

Synopsis: A group of students trapped in a high school finds themselves in dire situations as they seek to be rescued from a zombie invasion of their school.

School Tales: The Series (8 Episodes)

Thailand is upping their horror game. This series is actually popular over there. Now Americans can get a chance to see why. In the shade of “anthology,” this follows eight stand-alone stories involving high school students.

It is the middle of the line as far as reviews, but people are praising the acting, and the eighth story, in particular, is the most favored. Can Thailand keep pace amid the growing trend of Asian horror? This series seems to imply, yes!

Synopsis: Unspeakable horrors roam the halls of high school in this anthology featuring ghost stories directed by seasoned Thai horror directors.

Ash vs Evil Dead (3 Seasons)

Anyone who calls themselves a horror fan should be ashamed if they have never seen an Evil Dead movie. It’s in the fandom 101 syllabus. So when it was announced Starz was doing a series, the crowd went wild, and deservedly so. The show captured all the comedy of the movies while being just as terrifying and gross.

Of course, most of the credit should go to Sam Raimi’s bro-friend Bruce “The Chin” Campbell as the titular character. Even after 40 years, Campbell is still going strong as Ash. It’s rumored he won’t be joining the cast for an upcoming sequel (Evil Dead Rise), so we are as conflicted as the man in the two red button meme.

Synopsis: Ash has spent the last thirty years avoiding responsibility, maturity, and the terrors of the Evil Dead until a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind and Ash becomes mankind’s only hope

Death Note (Animated Series: 37 Episodes)

Here is one that’s trending for the anime fans out there. Death Note is a very popular series. In fact, Netflix made a live-action film a few years back. But hardcore purists prefer this animated version over that one.

Synopsis: An intelligent high school student goes on a secret crusade to eliminate criminals from the world after discovering a notebook capable of killing anyone whose name is written into it.

Two Sentence Horror Stories (30 Episodes)

Scary stories can be very effective when they are brief. Enter the phenomenon known as Two Sentence Horror Stories based on a viral social media game. What is really amazing is how they were able to make entire 20-minute episodes based on just two sentences.

Synopsis: This anthology series of terror features diverse characters facing primal fears in spine-chilling situations that stretch past daily routine.

The Walking Dead (10 Seasons)

This was the horror soap we all needed back in 2010. I would wager that the first season was appointment television and really put AMC on the map. There are so many twists and turns, unexpected deaths and sublime special effects that, depending on who you talk to, the first season is a masterpiece.

The show has birthed two spin-offs, some webisodes and even a wrap-up show that airs after each episode.

The eleventh and final season will wrap everything up this November.

Synopsis: Sheriff Deputy Rick Grimes wakes up from a coma to learn the world is in ruins and must lead a group of survivors to stay alive.

Hellbound (6 Episodes)

South Korea is coming in hot with this award-winning supernatural fantasy. Although it didn’t catch on as much as some K-horror series, it still has its fans. In fact, the day after it dropped on Netflix, it became the company’s most-watched series. What’s great about this one is that it is only six episodes long, just enough time to make a meal in your crockpot in time for dinner.

Synopsis: People hear predictions on when they will die. When that time comes, a death angel appears in front of them and kills them.

Cracow Monsters (8 Episodes)

Not to be ignored, Poland is getting in on the horror game. This series is based on real mythology from the country. It could be compared to something like Evil or The X Files, in that it involves a group of investigators who search out the paranormal. With chilling imagery and scary situations, this one has the potential to become a fan favorite.

Synopsis: A young woman haunted by her past joins a mysterious professor and his group of gifted students who investigate paranormal activity and fight demons.

That’s all we have this time for the most popular scary series streaming on Netflix. As always, give us some feedback on what you’ve seen, what you think of our list and any others you’d like us to include next time.

The Top-Searched Free Horror/Action Movies on Tubi This Week

Published

on

The free streaming service Tubi is a great place to scroll when you’re unsure what to watch. They are not sponsored or affiliated with iHorror. Still, we really appreciate their library because it’s so robust and has many obscure horror movies so rare you can’t find them anywhere in the wild except, if you’re lucky, in a moist cardboard box at a yard sale. Other than Tubi, where else are you going to find Nightwish (1990), Spookies (1986), or The Power (1984)?

We take a look at the most searched horror titles on the platform this week, hopefully, to save you some time in your endeavor to find something free to watch on Tubi.

Interestingly at the top of the list is one of the most polarizing sequels ever made, the female-led Ghostbusters reboot from 2016. Perhaps viewers have seen the latest sequel Frozen Empire and are curious about this franchise anomaly. They will be happy to know it’s not as bad as some think and is genuinely funny in spots.

So take a look at the list below and tell us if you are interested in any of them this weekend.

on

Believe it or not, Mattel’s Monster High doll brand has an immense following with both young and not-so-young collectors.

In that same vein, the fan base for The Addams Family is also very large. Now, the two are collaborating to create a line of collectible dolls that celebrate both worlds and what they have created is a combination of fashion dolls and goth fantasy. Forget Barbie, these ladies know who they are.

The dolls are based on Morticia and Wednesday Addams from the 2019 Addams Family animated movie.

As with any niche collectibles these aren’t cheap they bring with them a $90 price tag, but it’s an investment as a lot of these toys become more valuable over time.

“There goes the neighborhood. Meet the Addams Family’s ghoulishly glamorous mother-daughter duo with a Monster High twist. Inspired by the animated movie and clad in spiderweb lace and skull prints, the Morticia and Wednesday Addams Skullector doll two-pack makes for a gift that’s so macabre, it’s downright pathological.”

1994’s ‘The Crow’ Coming Back to Theaters for A New Special Engagement

Published

on

The Crow

Cinemark recently announced that they will be bringing The Crow back from the dead once again. This announcement comes just in time for the film’s 30th anniversary. Cinemark will be playing The Crow in select theaters on May 29th and 30th.

For those unaware, The Crow is a fantastic film based on the gritty graphic novel by James O’Barr. Widely considered one of the best films of the 90s, The Crow’s lifespan was cut short when Brandon Lee died of an accidental on set shooting.

The official synapsis of the film is as follows. “The modern-gothic original that entranced audiences and critics alike, The Crow tells the tale of a young musician brutally murdered alongside his beloved fiancée, only to be risen from the grave by a mysterious crow. Seeking revenge, he battles a criminal underground that must answer for its crimes. Adapted from the comic book saga of the same name, this action-packed thriller from director Alex Proyas (Dark City) features hypnotic style, dazzling visuals, and a soulful performance by the late Brandon Lee.”

The Crow

The timing of this release couldn’t be better. As a new generation of fans eagerly awaits the release of The Crow remake, they can now see the classic film in all of its glory. As much as we love Bill Skarsgard (IT), there is something timeless in Brandon Lee’s performance in the film.

This theatrical release is part of the Scream Greats series. This is a collaboration between Paramount Scares and Fangoria to bring audiences some of the best classic horror films. So far, they are doing a fantastic job.

That’s all the information we have at this time. Make sure to check back here for more news and updates.
