What are some of your favorite movies to watch when Halloween rolls around? Our guess is that it’s a timeless franchise favorite. But if you’re in the mood for something new, Tubi is an excellent source for horror films that are so far off the radar we are surprised the free platform has survived.
It’s also surprising that some of their originals haven’t been talked about more. The incredible twisted gore-fest Lowlifes is a must-watch and this year’s barroom drag queens vs. vampires sleeper Slay is so good Robert Rodriguez should be thanking the filmmakers for its unhinged homage to From Dusk Till Dawn.
If you can handle a few insurance and household cleaning commercials, Tubi is a treasure trove of movies you probably can’t find anywhere else. They also have their own brand of originals they either buy the rights to or produce themselves. Yes, you might be sacrificing quality visual effects or big-name stars, but these movies excel in other areas.
So we have a challenge. On Halloween night, in addition to watching your seasonal favorite, pick one of the Tubi movies below (we suggest Lowlifes) and maybe expand your yearly playlist to include a new film that doesn’t include Jason, Art, Freddy, or Michael Myers.
