The Disgusting and the Horrific

You’re Next (2011): A family reunion goes wrong after people start hunting the family from outside. This is a great, tense update on the slasher.

31 (2016): Rob Zombie’s divisive murder clown bonanza, you’ll either love it or you’ll hate it. Either way, it’s got Zombie’s unique look and a pretty fun style to match the carnival theme.

American Mary (2012): This female revenge flick from the Soska Sisters is surprisingly gory… and surgical. A medical student gets involved in extreme body modification, and sometimes practices on unwilling patients.

Are We Not Cats (2016): This film has one of the most disgusting premises out there, and it’s got nothing to do with blood. Two down on their luck strangers start a relationship after discovering they both have the same strange habit: eating hair.

Excision (2012): A weird and delusional teenage girl with an ill sister wants to be a doctor. Instead, she becomes obsessed with sex and blood. The ending will stay with you for a while.

Starry Eyes (2014): A woman who hopes to be a famous actress sells her soul to be a star. This gross movie is a dramatic critique of the lengths people will go to to become famous.

The Divide (2011): The Divide is a familiar story of a group of people stuck together in a bunker following a nuclear explosion that destroys their country. However, this movie strays by being the most brutal, disgusting, and soul-crushing isolation movie you will ever see.

Frozen (2010): Have you ever thought about what would happen if you got left on a ski lift for days with no way to contact anyone? Hopefully not, as it doesn’t seem pretty. This survivalist arctic horror film will have you thinking twice before going on a ski trip.

The Canal (2014): A spooky psychological thriller about a man whose wife is found dead right as he finds out she’s been cheating on him. This creepy flick keeps you guessing throughout and has a pretty dark and memorable ending.

Kiss of the Damned (2012): I’d like to think that this would be the vampire romance movie that was Twilight for people who like scary vampires. A vampire woman decides to infect a man she loves as her chaotic sister moves into her house.
