Watch ‘Conjuring’ Star Vera Farmiga Nail Slipknot’s Demon Voice in ‘Duality’ Cover

Published

Vera Farmiga, who has starred in three Conjuring movies, has a good idea of how a demon should sound. Recently, she sang Slipknot’s Duality at a Rock Academy show in Kingston, New York. She impressively matched Corey Taylor growl for growl.

Prior to singing Duality, Farmiga told the audience, “I’ll tell you one thing: This music program is one thing we can’t get enough of. We really do have the time of our lives.”

Watch the cover below – she starts singing a little after the 1 minute mark.

During the performance of Duality, Renn Hawkey (her husband) played the keyboards. Later in the show, the couple switched roles, with Farmiga playing the keyboards as Hawkey sang The Killing Moon by Echo & The Bunnymen.

Farmiga posted videos of both the Slipknot and Echo & The Bunnymen covers on her Instagram page. She also praised the Rock Academy, saying, “Best. Music. School. On. The. Planet. Enroll your kids now. And why let them have all the fun?! Enroll yourselves! Come learn. Come grow. Come play. Come have so much fun.”

Ice Nine Kills’ “Twisting the Knife” On ‘Scream 7’ Soundtrack

Published

on

Ice Nine Kills officially enters the canon of one of the most iconic horror franchises with ‘Twisting the Knife,’ featured in the forthcoming film Scream 7 (Feb.27). Cast member McKenna Grace joins the band on the new single, a rare, high-impact crossover between one of modern metal’s most ambitious bands and one of horror cinema’s most enduring properties.

Take a look at the video for Twisting the Knife Below, then read what lead singer Spencer Charnas has to say about his contribution.

Ice Nine Kills: “Twisting the Knife.

Charnas says of his musical involvement in the film:

“Twisting the Knife is our tribute to Wes Craven and the Scream franchise, which means so much to us. Scream is baked into the DNA of who I am and of Ice Nine Kills—my love of horror, comedy, and the collision between the two. I was already obsessed with Halloween and Friday the 13th, but Scream was the first I saw in theaters. Hearing the killer talk about horror movies, in that distinctively pop-culture savvy Kevin Williamson way, blew my mind.

In recent years, we’ve gotten to know and work with Matthew Lillard, Skeet Ulrich, Neve Campbell, Rose McGowan, Jamie Kennedy, Lee Waddell, and others in different capacities. We announced the collaboration with Scream 7 at Wembley Arena, with Ghostface and Rose McGowan, which was surreal in itself.

When we learned that Mckenna Grace is a fan of our band, it made perfect sense to invite her to sing. She recorded her part in my home studio, in the same room where I keep my screen-used Scream knife prop, one of the four rubber knives made for the first movie.

Marco Beltrami’s Scream scores are just as influential to me as any other component of the films. In our song, there are echoes of the moody atmospheres he’s created, with our own INK twist.”

Scream 7 opens in theatres on Friday, February 27th.

Per the press release:

“Twenty years on from the release of their debut album, Ice Nine Kills are one of the most intentional and commercially successful bands in modern heavy music, driven by immersive cinematic world-building and a deep fusion of melody and bombast. Their two breakthrough albums, The Silver Scream and The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood, generated over 1.5 billion streams alone and positioned the band as a rare crossover force.”

THE VAMPIRE LESTAT DROPS FIRST OFFICIAL ROCK SINGLE “LONG FACE”

Published

on

PERFORMED BY THE WORLD’S FIRST IMMORTAL ROCK STAR

As the first immortal vampire rockstar, Lestat de Lioncourt (portrayed by Sam Reid) makes a bold entrance with his debut single, signaling the launch of an unprecedented career and hinting at more releases to come.

The song’s original music and lyrics were written by series composer Daniel Hart and performed by Reid. It will be featured in The Vampire Lestat, premiering this summer on AMC and AMC+.

In this rock-and-roll-centric season, Lestat embarks on an electric multi-city tour while being haunted by “muses” from his wild and rebellious past. As his band’s popularity and star power rise, so does Lestat’s influence over vampires and humans alike, leaving others to grapple with his growing power amid the Great Conversion, an unnatural surge in the vampire population.

In addition to Reid, the series stars Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Delainey Hayles, and Jennifer Ehle. Executive producers include Mark Johnson, creator/showrunner Rolin Jones, Hannah Moscovitch, along with Christopher Rice and the late Anne Rice.

In a press release from AMC, Hart and the rockstar himself shared thoughts on the release:

Daniel Hart said: “‘Long Face’ is the first song I wrote for The Vampire Lestat. We decided early on to make David Bowie a major influence on Lestat’s musical style and persona, and there’s certainly some Ziggy Stardust in this track. But we chose Bowie not only for his glam era — he was a chameleon. Expect Lestat to change his musical colors throughout the season as he learns how to remain true to himself and express that truth on stage every night.”

Lestat responded: “‘Long Face’ is the first song Daniel Hart ‘produced’ for my album. He decided early on to steal where he could from Bowie because he hasn’t had an original idea in five years now — is that his The Green Knight score fading in the rearview? As for ‘Long Face,’ the bass should have walked down with the guitar at the end instead of pedaling on E. Predictable. Like everything Daniel Hart touches.”

There appears to be some in-house sparring between the vampire rockstar and his team — something that could shape both the full album rollout and his public image moving forward.

After all, no one likes a bully. #TeamDanielHart
